About that VR game..
Not sure if you noticed or not that the majority of gamers don't really like Facebook and don't want a VR gaming industry with them at the helm. The real ones have chosen PSVR2 for now, until PCVR can offer a non-facebook Eyetracked Foveated Rendering experience so we all don't have to go buy overpriced GPU's.

When you figure out the mistake you made chasing an exclusive game for Mobile Phone VR...

I argue a lot what the definition of VR is in regards to a motion controller deleting buttons and refusing to hold parity with existing gamepad standards. Like retaining a D-Pad and ABXY in a familiar locations and layouts and what that offers to the industry to embrace Hybrid VR gaming over "VR Only" Exclusives.

But I rarely touch on trying to limit the definition of what the HMD is supposed to be providing. In this case I make an exception.

You chose what looks like a MR approach where I'd be better off just busting out my Axis and Allies gameboards out of the closet instead of putting on an HMD. VR gaming isn't about hands. It's about being surrounded by the game world via your Eyes.

If I'm going to put an HMD on to play a game, I want to be surrounded by that game. Not what looks like the Edges of a Table.

The biggest problem with VR today is that everyone gatekeeps that HMD behind the hands. Which you are probably doing there. I didn't see gameplay, but I'm assuming that I have to reach in and try to pick peices up and move them manually with my hands instead of using something like Eye-tracking to emulate a mouse cursor.

Try again.

This time, pay attention to the fact that the market currently sits at PSVR2, until something better comes along. You go looking, deep down you know this to be true. Even the echo chambers like R/PSVR and R/VIRTUALREALITY are slowly coming to realize that VR needs more FLAT games, with less hand waving. It's just to bad I have to get permanently silenced from the entirety of reddit just for arguing to get a D-Pad put back on motion controllers.

Meta not putting eye tracking in anything to keep up with PSVR2 should be all you need to realize the truth of where your focus should have been for VR right now. Nvidia charging scalper prices right out the gate should be your next clue.

So eventually, I'm going to read about how this VR experiment of yours didn't really pan out. And it'll be your own fault not for lack of actual interest in VR by those of us keeping up with it.

Because rest assured. I'm desperate for something like Civilization in VR but I'm not buying a Quest or any other Meta Product to keep up with VR Gaming. I'd imagine I rest with well over 51% or more of the sentiment of the audience you're after. In reality it's probably about 80%+ that hate facebook.

Is VR still just two tiny TVs strapped to my face, or is it cool yet?

I'd say RE4/8, GT7, NMS and Bulletstorm on PSVR2, Do a well enough job to make each of your replies DOA. There's no aging badly.

The actual distance is probably closer to 2 inches not Centimeters.
Your eyes don't rest right up against the lenses. And neither do the screens.

That is WAY too close for my tastes, sorry. XD

This might blow your mind but VR headsets create an artificial focal distance of about 1.4 metres from your eyes. So someone who needs glasses just for reading doesn't need glasses for VR.

You know you can't trust any of that market share stuff right?

You're basically looking at a statistic of people who bought a quest 2 for Beatsaber for Christmas. Then never picked the damn thing up again once the novelty of Beatsaber wore off.

The market they should be shooting for, are the the ones who bought VR for things like RE4 and RE8, MSFS, UEVR.........Not beatsaber. If you want to make a Civilization game for the Mobile Phone Gamer...so be it. But I think Civilization and Mobile gaming don't mix.

VR Only gaming, being on the same level as your average Mobile Phone game, is why VR Retention sucks.

I rarely buy VR Only. And of those I do own. I rarely play them.
But most every Full Fledged Flat game that got some kind of VR support, all the way down to Metroid Prime via Dolphin VR. I Complete them. They don't end up on a backlog. Mostly because these games were built to compete for my attention instead of hiding their lack of content behind a hand waving gimmick.

And you want to make a game exclusive to that hand waving gimmick? Please.

I think his concern is more related to radiation levels, etc.

You don't seem to understand how the Quest 3 and PCVR work together at all. Probably never will.

I've had 6 different VR headsets. And Meta was the one keeping the VR market going.
Zuck wasted billions to do this. His loss, our gain.

The PSVR2 isn't even in the conversation it uses old fashioned Fresnel lenses.
The affordable Quest 3 and all the expense ultra high end headsets use Pancake lenses without the distortion of Fresnel. Pancake gives edge to edge clarity.

I streamed multiple PCVR games wirelessly with a WI-FI6E router to my Quest 3 for almost two years.
It's a great affordable device for PC gaming. You don't like Facebook. So what, they dominate the market and literally kept it alive for years. Also they make a good product for people who can't afford a MeganeX or Bigscreen Beyond headset.

And I did all that with a quest 2. Buying that Quest 2 was a mistake that I don't intend to repeat. I have zero issues getting it setup for wireless PCVR. But between buying a quest 3. or just pluggin into the PSVR2 PC adapter, or just loading up the PS5 Pro. Guess which one I pick? The one offering NMS and GT7.

No amount of your experience setting up your wifi router for your quest is going to change that Quest isn't doing crap to hold VR up. UEVR and Luke Ross is.

Whatever you might think Quest is doing to keep it alive is as fake as the DEI push the last 4 years.

IF you going digging out there on the internet. You might even come across an article spelling it out as much, that PSVR 2 is actually showing the greatest "Investment" from the gamers. Instead of.... a christmas present that collects dust.

I know a few people who bought a quest 2.... I wonder if they are included in that market share.

You know how much they used that Quest 2 over the last 4 years? Zero.
That's at least 2 I know of. IF you count me that would make it 3. Although I actually did put some use into it during the first 2 years before I got the PSVR2.

Why? Because they prefer to play with a familiar gamepad and being lazy instead of motion controls.

Remember don't sit too close to the screen you will go blind.

That's what's parents said back in the 1950's.
Finally, isn't this a CIV 7 forum. I'm not sure it is the best game mechanically for VR.

But it sure would look pretty.

I might buy it when I can have Military Victory instead of the game just ending.

I like to touch my eyelashes to the lenses, then I know I'm close enough.
