Looking for honest opinion

Is the game really deserving of mixed reviews? I’m a longtime fan of strategy games, including Civilization. I’ve played almost all of the most famous strategy games, from RTS to grand strategy. Will I enjoy this game?

I wonder how much of it is buyer's remorse? Not because the game is bad (it's not) but because of how much they spent? Human psychology is funny that way. Someone will get excited about something, spend more than they should to acquire it, regret spending so much money, and then suddenly despise the very thing they thought they couldn't live without.

Yeah but it works the other way, too. Cognitive dissonance and sunken cost fallacy. Once you've deeply invested into something it can be painful to accept that it was not as great as you thought it would be. So your mind doubles down in being even more positive about it.

People telling people that all the clear flaws and room for improvement they see that even the developers agree is a problem, that it isn't a problem and they should just shut up about it, that seems to be driving more traffic than anything else.

This was a problematic launch and the developers are taking action. Pretending it wasn't is doing the game no favors and is just making people very angry.

Multiple big Youtubers who are very pro-Civ and pro-Civ 7 have had to step in and make videos telling glazers to stop misrepresenting things. Marbozir, Potato, etc. It is pretty funny.

Of course some haters are being very unconstructive, too.

There's a good game here, buried under a ton of issues: half-baked ideas, half-baked UI/UX, lacking basic features, outright rushed stuff, gameplay ideas that can be great if polished more. I *like* what it wants to be, but it's not there yet.

Best wait a year or two for updates. With good direction of changes, it may become an astonishing game. *May*.

Humankind is free right now, though it's not my favorite game. Millennia and ARA are probably on sale, or have demos, there's just so many games to play, it makes no sense to shell out a premium price for a currently mediocre product. Yes you can have fun with Civ 7 depend on specific preferences but why not just wait? Will you die if you don't play it on release?

That much is easy. FOMO. Civ typically releases a ton of content, including 2 basic game rewrites, and starting with 6 the best way to get included in all of them was to be one of the people that bought the super deluxe edition. It doesn't help that some of the steam achievements were hidden behind DLC

TBH I think I'll play Civ7 a bit and then move back to Millenia and ARA for the foreeseable future. ARA needs more time form me but it has huge potential it seems while Millenia is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane punk kid smoking cigarettes at school and flipping the bird to the police, deffo need more time on that one.

I wouldn't return to Humankind honestly, I just... I don't know. Civ 7 has many issues but at least it's not bland, which Humankind felt like to me, and I'm an Ampiltude games fan. Here's hoping Endless Legend 2 will be great.

I’d say 8/10. It feels like it’s missing something in the UI but it runs well enough even on my older PC. The gameplay’s fun, it looks great, the music is decent. I had the extra lying around for the founder’s edition but I’d recommend just paying for the base game.

Fast responce : it is a pure scam game, still in alpha, ui is ♥♥♥♥, many bug/crash but you will see it after the refund of 2h of play, so even more scam lol. I will support a action vs that team for cheating and stealing us.
