Maybe, but I wouldn’t count on it. Right now the only people playing are the hardcore fans that spend 100 bucks.
I don’t think the more casual userbase will be as friendly.

I don't care about reviews. Professional reviewers are lairs and are often politically motivated. I have read many bad reviews of very good games.
I'm liking it, and I want more of everything in the game.

Just found out that you-tubers can be sued and lets play can be taken down if they are negative.. no wonder we heard very little from the you-tubers. I should have known.

It might be true that their videos can be taken down and them sued for Let's Plays but there have been some pretty scathing REVIEWS up there for a couple of days now...

Yes, I know he also made one which praises it but other Youtubers have been less than gushing about Civ VII as well.

We all know that Youtubers get paid for views and there's a lot of views up for grabs for slagging off Civ VII if you want to go there.

I'm not defending the company but streamers are not as unreliable as professional reviewers. Of course, they need to be approached with some caution but there are some good ones that you probably trust. And there are some REAL stinkers that I don't trust at all.

I would say they are more money motivated. You'd be surprised how many reviewers are paid off across all types of media.

I was just surprised that they can take down whole series of lets play if the you tubers are negative and at their discretion. I did not think you-tubers could be affected this way, I thought we have free speech when it was showing game play. I guess you learn new things all the time.

Streamers are worse, they do not know anything yet they parrot everything while going either with controversy on hating or blind praise just for views.
Just buy games and think for youself.

Will see, this forums seems to state that all “true” civilization players hate the game, I guess it’s that fanbase that is most likely to buy early access.

Well I played since Civ 1 and like this game
My initial review was thumbs down, I'm debating flipping it. I think all my points remain sound and the era's thing still bothers me a lot. It genuinely doesn't feel like a main line Civ game. But I am enjoying playing it none the less, I just have started to think of it as a set of era specific 4x games that are quite like Civ but without the grand sweep of evolving through history.

As the next big Civ game I still feel its a misstep, but as its own game I quite enjoy it... It's a conundrum.

That's what everybody thought of civ5 at the start. And civ6. And civ4. And civ3. They all started with bad reviews. Made their ways into 90+ territory. Basically the game as is now is about the same state as civ5 at the start.

The consensus currently is "it changed so it sucks". People are whining.

The 2 majors complaints are UI which will be fixed and the 3 era system which is inherently fixable by have a version of each civ at each age, it's gonna be modded in weeks at worst, and forgotten in a year because a lot of nations, like most of Europe doesn't make sense before the middle ages for example. Having the same civ for the whole of the timeline actually was one of the main criticism of the series since civ2...

It is different this time, Civ 5 was received very positively. Yes there was some who resisted the change to one unit per tile but it was nothing like this. Fundamentally Civ 5 still felt like Civ. Civ 6 most of the complaints were purely cosmetic. Neither was anywhere near as badly received as 7 and I honestly think that's because 7's choice to split the game into eras which miss huge chunks of history means its no longer spiritually a true civ game. Can that be fixed? I don't know, just adding in a bunch more eras would help, but it'll still feel disjointed as long as changing eras resets everything like it does now.

The issues with 7 are much greater than they ever were with 5 which was the last time anything like this big a change to the formula was tried. But as I said putting expectations aside I do think 7 is good and could be great. It'll never be a true Civ game though without a serious rework.

Only because the reviews for those of us have returned because the game doesn't load it don't count in the total score.
To me, the game is not that bad. It's just that if you have played other Civ games you have a hard time adjusting to it. And also, you have to play an hour or two and several restarts to start to get into it. They really oversimplified it. And by doing so, took out some of the things people actually enjoyed doing.

Hey, I fully understand many people not liking the game. I didn't either at first. Just saying that for some of you, the game will grow on you. However,I do admit I am not a fan of the eras thing. I think they did it to try and keep the nations competitive at the end game but it seems like they are forcing you to play a certain way to get all you need done in time and then you have to somewhat have to start over again.

"Anyone who disagrees with me is liar and political"

Bro, you cannot be real, politics has nothing to do at all with the things people are complaining about (Mechanics, UI, etc).

Why do people like you always manage to bring politics into everything?
