Defenders of Civ 7 - explain this
Firaxis spent all this time on a meta progression system. Efforts to create DLCs releasing on day one, added bonus content that they could charge extra for.

But they somehow did not prioritize UI or game setup and maps? Just show the producer and the company priority. Not sure how that can be defended and give a pass from 50% of the community.

No one needs to defend anything. This is your hill to die on, not the people enjoying the game.
ya that stuff sucks but the game is playable which is rare for a game today. so yes while that stuff missing sucks im still having fun playing it where i dont need to wait 3 months worth of patches to make it playable. So no matter what people are going to complain about whats wrong with a game. if its so easy then you go make a civ game and lets all put it under a fine microscope when its released and see how you feel

Spot on.
The UI could use some work but I really like the new game setup mechanics and the maps seem great so far. Just my opinion of course.

I am not saying you cant enjoy it, thats fine, I just think management at Firaxis has a weird sense of priority, also dont blame the game developers the new stuff is pretty interesting.

I can explain this. They want to make money and a good product too. I don't like their compromises (I miss the functionality of civ6), but I understand their reasoning. My Windows computer can't play this game, but it works flawless on my MAC1.
I want an ability to cheat, play time should go on until 2025 (not 1950), and I like to have the workshop back.
I don't mind paying for the things I like and I hope many more civilizations will be added to the game, more wonders, more army units, bigger landmass and higher difficulty.

I think for me it's more about the small things that are not yet included in the game. Such as being able to at least rename our cities. Maybe we will get that feature for a $10 paid DLC.

I think Firaxis most likely lost a significant amount of day one sales due to these things missing and being reported, while meta progression etc most likely gave them very little benefit in sales. If I ran Firaxis I would have a serious discussion with the project planners / producers what priorities they set.

And reading their response they most likely had those talks already.

I'm pretty sure after no one buying Midnight Suns, Firaxis has a weird sense of attempting to stay solvent. I think the Founders stuff is way too pricey personally, yet the base game seems just fine without all the extra tat. By the time any normal player leveled every single base game leader to unlock most of the leader mementos, the first major DLC will be around the corner.

I don't need to defend a game I enjoy playing.
It is a different kind of civ for sure. The age changes I both like and dislike, but it feels more like a tabletop version of civ and I'm really enjoying the combat. The rest of the game I don't really care about, that's just micromanagement clicking alot etc.

The graphics, animations, sounds, music, are superb. 100x better than civ 4,5 or 6.
The choice of leaders and civs.. is abit too woke for me but I can work with it, since most of them I get to kill. The UI I don't understand why people are complaining about something because some streamer said so.. have an original thought..

UI - no zoom to unit, severe lack of tooltip, no feedback when building.......... Some of these is pretty basic stuff...... That why its weird that it was not a priority, its like they did not care or it was not on the priority list at all, but a meta progression was, that's my point.

what do you mean "no zoom to unit"?

When a unit gets attacked. You have to find the units that are damaged manually, super annoying.

No feedback in building what? You choose a building, see the increases per tile easily, pick the tile, choose to convert to urban tile if needed, then wait for the city to build it. If you just converted a tile to an urban tile, the tile gets covered with houses and a spot where the building will be built. If this is the second building on the urban tile, the tile changes to show two spots. One with the previous building and one empty slot for the new one being built.

There's certainly tooltips. Could they be more verbose for a bit of clarity at times? Sure.

Zoom to Unit? Wasn't in Civ VI either. Do you mean, zoom to unit with unused movement? Still in the game. Not sure if there's a hotkey for addressing bottom right corner concerns. It used to be spacebar right? Probably still is. I just keep clicking.

Damaged units should show up above the giant bottom right button in the tiny events list. Yet I do agree that it can really throw people that aren't paying attention since the giant button doesn't care that your units got attacked. I just try to address the additional list at the beginning of my turns since it does have important info that I'd usually ignore in other games of this type.
