I'm on the fence about requesting a refund
I've been playing this franchise since the 1990's and the game is honestly horrible in turns of polish, UI problems, traders not working, units disappearing, and such a drastic change over previous generations that it doesn't seem to be worth the $129 price tag.

All of the features of the Founder editions are more or less cosmetic, and Napoleon is not like this overpowered leader or anything, so I'm not really sure I can justify the game in its current state.

What do others think?

Traders not working?
Units vanishing? Not being killed by volcanoes, drowning in floods, killed by archers you can't see?

Sure, we should all do that first, but the discussion forum is also meant to be a place for exchanging thoughts. What do you think?
Sure sounds like you should refund.

I had the same dilemma, waited a day to cool off after playing. Then decided its not ready and I don't have time to waste, there are so many other games that are finished and not in WIP state, so want to play it when its better, also paid 138$ for founder with taxes, its just sadly not worth it, it be somewhat fun if I had spare time, but it needs work.

And the extras was not really worth it. I will do like I do with Paradox. Buy it on sale, then wait for dlc to go to 50% off and buy them then. That way its not so expensive. While I wait I play without the DLC or other finished games. I can also buy more games that way, and if I dont play some of them due to time constraint its not so bad.

I think Firaxis will make enough without me having to pad their pockets for some basic cosmetics or civs that should have been in the game.

I don't think it's worth $129, yet I was gifted my copy. Yet would I pay $70 compared to the $60 I paid for Civ VI on release... Let's see, my pay has almost tripled since a decade ago... so... yeah? If I had someone to play it with, I'd certainly have bought myself a copy and kept it.

I think it erases all the things that always put me off when going back to VI, so I'm happy with it so far.

I am loving the game so far, it's been working perfectly fine. Sure the UI require a bit of work but the Devs already stated it will be fixed. I got the game at 30% off (never pay full price) and with that discount I am more accepting.

Almost word-for-word how I was going to respond to that. Odd how much game forums have changed... they're not even about discussions anymore. It's "I'm right, you're wrong and nobody gaf about what you've asked (making you an idiot "b/cit's SO obvious") or had to say." Don't know exactly how to rank them (vitriol spinning out of control everywhere), but maybe Reddit/Discord/Steam. There's an onslaught of hate and nastiness everywhere.

I have nearly 10 hours in this trash already, and I honestly doubt I'd be eligible for a refund. Here's hoping steam doesn't screw me over

Edit: They totally screwed me over

As someone who agrees about the principle of a refund... and this game being in a bad position right now... you played longer than 2hrs. They didn't "screw" you.
Just do it. There's no point in keeping it if you are not going to trudge through the issues and continue playing. It would just be collecting e-dust in your library.

Yes, the issues could be fixed in future. But who's to say when?

More importantly, you could always refund now and buy it again at a later date. And if the reviews are anything to go by, this game will likely see a hefty discount soon like veilguard. You would then be able to get a "better" game at a CHEAPER price. You win that way, since founder's stuff is of no concern to you. And knowing take-two, even the founder's stuff could eventually be put up for sale, because they aren't going to say no to $$$$$ even if it results in hurt feelings. After all, they know that their "loyal fans" are going to just keep accepting it no matter what they do.

Piss off. 100 dollars for 10 hours is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, especially given 4X games like this don't initially show their flaws until you play at least for a few hours. 2 hours might be acceptable for a single player Sony Filmgame, but not this.

Not to be rude, but you shouldn't of pre ordered a digital game. You don't need to be a sheep, and you can have some patience. Watch some videos, read stuff etc.
You would of saved your money.
Edit: I've seen the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game is, and as someone who loves civ games, I won't be buying this one. The refund is on you, shouldn't have bought it and played more than 2 hours. Maybe you will learn from this.
I didn't preorder ♥♥♥♥. I saw several reviews and watched livestreams of the game, but no one bothered to mention all the game breaking bugs. Stop defending these scumbag game devs for releasing this broken game. I did my due diligence and still got ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
The last update has them given in to our demands adding stuff that should be added and they also fixed the crash issue, looks like they are pandering to us which is a good sign.
