Refunding
Sorry, but no, I'm not giving Take Two a benefit of the doubt after what they did to KSP2. It's a clear pattern of corporate strategy. I will happily buy the game again when it's in a state worthy of its price, but this is atrocious. It's not about the new mechanics, they are fine (I would go even further with them and replace immortal leaders with some sort of "dynasty" system). It's not even directed at Firaxis. I just don't believe they are going to be given the chance to fix the game by their corpo overlords. I am not going to waste money on another T2 rugpull. I'll believe the game will be fixed when I see it.

Unfortunately, I missed that I was already over 2 hours ingame, and can no longer request a refund. Maybe the game will be good in a few years, who knows...

See you in 2.4 years, when it's complete.

Until then, you have dozens of games at your disposal.

41 days until Assassin's Creed: Shadows.

That'll keep you busy for a couple hundred hours or more.

You can request a refund since this is a pre release. you can request right up until the real release on the 11th.

You can try.
Game still not released.

Even if you've played more than 2 hours? The 2 hours thing is generally a good standard, but in this case many of the game breaking bugs (for me) don't start happening until it starts trying to calculate a lot of turns and units on the map, which is past the two hour mark. >(
Fool me once ..
Yeah - Take2 desaster with KSP2..

I do not know if this true in general. I remember playing games for longer than two hours and still got refunds.

Nope, standard return applies, so max within 14 days of purchase (of release) and within 2 hours playtime, regardless when you play them.

From the game's store page:

Can I still get a refund if I play a game purchased with Advanced Access?
Purchases that included Advanced Access qualify for refunds per Steam's standard refund policy.

When you pre-purchase an Advanced Access version on Steam, you can request a refund at any time prior to the start of Advanced Access. The standard 14-day refund period also applies and will not start until the release date.

This has nothing to do with corporate greed or some other bs. The game, or at least what we expect it to be, is waaaay too complex for a single release. I can't remember a single civ game since 4 that was complete. I mean, the overly praised Civ 5 was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at launch (you barely had any features;
spies? Nope, trade routes? Nope, religion? Nope.

Yeah, sure, they can go and bring a polished version, but then it will lack features (like Civ 5 did). You can have all the features in, and people will complain that the features are not balanced, ui is ♥♥♥♥ etc. bla, bla (like it was in Civ 6 and is now).

Those are unrealistic expectations. Any Civ fan should have known what was coming. I still see a lot of potential and it makes fun for me.

Typical white knight bs. Its not about "expectations". Its about getting a full, functional and complete product, given the fact that its way overpized. By defending this crap you will never get a complete game in future. Oh wait lets cout out like 4 or 6 civilizations just for a founder edition. Lets make them pay more for basic content. Jesus .. grow up you get milked and you dont even notice it.
sometimes when games get enough bad reviews steam will allow refunds over the 2h limit....there were a couple of games like that. They usually announce it.
why did you buy it then?

Yeah, I already got the refund. Played every Civ since the first came out 30 years ago. This is, at best, an early beta.

Do you buy pizza without cheese as well? Or do that, then complain there's no cheese?

Joke's on you, I haven't touched Ubisoft shovelware with a 10 foot pole for over a decade.
