Steamdeck/PC cloud saves?
Started a game on PC and moved over to Steam Deck to play on the go. First time booting the game up on Steam Deck and expected to see my save available to continue to play. At time of writing no cloud saves. All games are saved locally which wasn't the case in Civ 5 or 6. This kind of makes Steam Deck compatibility pointless unless you solely play on steam deck. I'm not sure how this is even an afterthought and not something immediately available as it's a basic feature that's been in games for over a decade on steam.

It's crazy to me the game doesn't have cloud saves enabled through steam or via the 2K account to allow users to carry their games over across platforms. It should be as simple as loading the game up tied to the same 2K account and having all your saves and progress available.

I'm sure there's a work around where I send the save file to google cloud and boot up desktop and download the save put it in the proper directory but it's a feature that should just work especially when you advertise "Steam Deck Verified" "Great on Deck"

On this note, I switched from Proton to the native version. I copied my saves.

Does anyone know where the native linux saves are located?
You need to have a 2K account paired with your Steam account, then when you manually save from the menu, there will be a cloud save tab. Presumably this will work across platforms, but, yes, for those of us with a PC and Steam Deck, I'd prefer Steam cloud for the convenience.

Keep in mind that if you're planning to play your Steam Deck offline, you need to start the game, load the cloud save, then save it locally. Just remember to save it back to the cloud next time you're online.

I found it. I am using Flatpak steam and it was in the Flatpak steam folder under "MyGames"

It's a terrible system but it works and thanks for the tip. I can't believe we have to manually save each time we switch platforms. They need to switch to cloud saves asap cause this ain't it
