Eras are WAY too fast
My biggest problem with Civ is ALWAYS that I feel like I'm only just getting started in a time period before whoopsie it's over. That is worse than EVER with the fact that I get soft frickin' reset when that happens now!

And it happens FAR too early. I'm a marathon massive map player. Hell, my favorite game mode is hotseat (mad that's gone too) where I play against MYSELF 24 times with no AI because the AI is just too dumb. So the fact that I am even capable of finishing a game in a single sitting is kinda awful for me.

I am finding myself getting kicked off the Normans before I even finished half their tech tree. And that's with Eras progressing as slow as possible! I don't get to enjoy the medieval era at all. I haven't even had any WARS yet!

This badly needs a fix.

Just a tip, use speed quick or online. Until fixed.

That's the opposite of what I want! I don't want research eras to be so fast my armies can't get where they're going before they're obsolete

With you buddy.

This is a public beta with the content patched in later.

Oh, and Australia is tiny apparently.

There's no such thing as obsolete in Civilization VII.

That's a Civ VI problem.

Nobody has ever been more than one rank, or one military unit upgrade ahead of me.

Standard settings, higher difficulties, random map.

I recently saw those early tank models roll out and thought, cool.

That was the only time that it happened so far, but that tank was only one branch on the tree ahead of me. You should always be within striking distance if your science is respectable.

Next game that you play, focus on science.

It's not the game's fault. It's the way that you are playing.

That's what I've been using and there is separate setting to slow down eras.

You're missing my point. It's not that I'm falling behind the rest of the world. It's that I want to enjoy my time in each era without feeling like the next one is breathing down my neck. I want to enjoy a few knights charging for a couple wars before gunpowder comes along!

I just moved up to the Modern era and the game jumped ALMOST A THOUSAND YEARS from 970 to 1750

You gotta be kidding me.

I don't even get to play all of history???
They do feel exponentially fast - one moment you're at 8% next the start of the crisis hits! I guess there's a 'game speed' setting in the options that can extend your times here?

This is me already playing on the slowest speed. I got through a whole game in like six hours.

I spent over TWO THOUSAND on Civ VI. And I don't think I ever finished a single game.

And I was happy.

But this sucks.

I am genuinely curious how you have 2,000 hours on CIV 6 and never finished a game. Was that all marathon games that you eventually got bored with or just hated the tediousness of CIV 6 and praying for it hurry up and end? lol

I often played hotseat games against myself (playing against the AI is infuriating they never place cities correctly), on a modded super-huge map with a modded super-long marathon game pace that was eight times slower than the slowest possible time in the vanilla game. I never gave up on a single game. I just inevitably reached a point where the mods broke and I had to start over.

I agree. I hate finally getting into a groove only to have the Age pop and feels like I am starting a new game. Hate how fast the ages are and I hate the total reset. Im ok with the Civ evolving bought I get whiplash.

I have been playing since Civ 1. One more turn was always how I felt. I have no issue shutting the game off now. Starting all over in the second Age sucks. With this system, I'm guessing when the age will be done so is there any point in building that or researching this? I love a very long game on a very large map. This just sucks for me. Might be for others, but it is not for me.

Game speeds don't work right. You are progressing the age as if you were playing normal speed. However everything costs 3x as much so you are getting the worst of all worlds.

Make them longer in options. And slow speed down, although it was buggy pre patch, not checked it since.

Game speeds don't work right. OP needs to just play on normal or shelve the game till they fix them. Marathon is not going to be playable.

Eras do go to quickly, even on slowest setting. I completed a Economic 'Railroad' victory without even getting my 'Great Banker' to a different city as was on 100% when it spawned.
Settings were Online Speed, Tiny Map, Slowest Era speed. I don't know if that combo had anything to do with it.
