Okay, I was wrong mostly
Okay so I'll admit I was mostly wrong on the new age mechanics there are still some issues and some changes in would like to see. But as long as you have commanders and troops with those commanders they will carry on into the next age a good chunk of the buildings also seem ageless so that's not as big of an issue.

All in all it's a good game I'm having a lot of fun crossplay with players is awesome can play with my buddy now who is on PS5 and I'm on PC.. dope.

My buddy's biggest complaint on PS5 is no keyboard and mouse support which is mind-boggling how was that not included?? Glad I'm on pc.

It will also add the game somewhat seems unfinished. There's definitely stuff for quality of life improvements that were in older versions and seems left out in this one. Still need some work but it runs great on PC no crashes no issues and the gameplay is Fun... the most important part

So all troops packed into a commander will persist to the next age? Good to know when I get to play next week.
I didn't think I'd like it, but transitioning from Rome to Normans made me feel good,

It feels natural to move on to castles and knights .

Indeed, I saw that in their help database 5 min after loading up the game. It works fine so far. I like the mechanic but I'm only 50% through my first play through so I'll reserve final judgment until I've finished it.

Yeah my friend didn't do all of that he just had troops running around, those all disappeared for him but I had four or five generals all filled with troops and they did carry over into the next age.. they were also upgraded versions so kind of nice. It wasn't as bad as people are making it out to be and I hated the idea with a passion and now I'm more like meh it's fine.

Yeah, I went from Egypt to Abbasid and that just felt like a natural transition. I'm very curious to see what I'll pick when going into the modern age, so I shall go back to the game and make that happen now.

I kind of wish we could keep our civilization. I would like to start with the Americans from the get-go, I see what they're doing and understand it but that's not one of my favorite parts.. I do miss sticking with a civ but it works and it's not a horrible mechanic.

Do the units need to be attached to a commander when entering a new age? If there is a commander with say 3 open slots, will that save 3 unattached units? Or are all unattached units lost regardless?

I don't think I had all my slots filled with one of the commanders and all were filled after the age switch. I'm not 100% sure though. Will have to test.
You don't have to pack them.

Still in my first game. Had a huge army carry over into the Modern Age.

And I haven't used the packing feature at all.

The game itself collected all of my ships and packed them neatly into two large battle groups.

The rest of my army was scattered across the map.

That's how I started the Modern Age.

That might be for the modern age switch but I 100% lost my troops that where not packed. No question about it I was missing LOTs of solders. They might fill the commanders but the ones not packed with them from bigging to explorer are for sure going to go by by.

So to insure you don't loose them I would build the one dude and keep solders with him otherwise they will be lost.

Exactly.. the game is good. The problem is legit the UI and the fact that a lot of people are alergic to change.. if you dont like it its fine! Also, just like you said.. once you play for a while and understand some of the new mechniques the game just clicks..
No keyboard support on the PS5? Hell there is no keyboard support on the PC... How do you mess up keyboard and mouse on a PC?! HOW!?!

You don't need to pack them. They get packed into generals automatically. I just finished a 3 age militaristic campaign and always kept my units without pre packing them.
