CIV VII Feedback
The Things I really dislike so far:

Fog of war : I preferred old cloud or mist style , the hexagon popups is unimersive , ugly and tech styled that doesn't fit at all the game theme and concept. It makes the whole game look like a poor tabletop wargame rather than Civ Game.

Missing Builder : I liked to have units of slaves and builders to use to build things, roads and so on , the new direction of removing them and use only UI selection is also unimersive and boring , plus it feels too much as a excel filler manager than game.

Small maps/ no World customization : There is missing worldmap selection of old games, this feels too streamlined like a kid mobile game, where did go all the options to choose world size, humidity , age, shape , features and so on? now we only have tiny ,small and regular map?

Paywall dlc : Essential civs like Britain , Italy and others are just missing and hidden behind what? PAywalls? I got the founders edition so I am not one complaining for the costs but too much money grabbing politics are unaceptable

Woke selections : We see silly leaders of silly nations never considered or that built anything in history highlighted and other major civs completely missing from the roster or hidden behind paywalls or registration tricks.

Streamlined unimersive UI : The UI is just plain ugly , it looks like a streamlined android app with little imagination and not immersive , like browsing throught some techy app that has nothing about history or civ games.

Cities Sizes : City size are exagerated they span over whole continents and its not only unrealistic ( at least untill modern age ) but looks ugly as is spamming more and more hexes that end up in a messy convolution of icons and stuff that makes the whole game confusing.

Just 3 Ages : In my opinion the ages are a bit forced, there should be more like :
Stone age , Bronze Age, Classic Age, Dark Ages, Middle ages, Renaissance , Industrial , Nuclear , Modern , AI age.

Leaders evolution : Leaders shoul devolve in their clothes, swithcing from ages to ages, its ridiculous to see a 1700 guy talk to others in pelts and skins , I am against leaders in general anyway.

I'm a bit gutted. I watched Millenenia and Ara Untold come and go to hold out for Civ and now I am just reading all these valid points and am wondering why bother with it?
Couldnt agree more with the ages, 3 in total seem so inadequate

I think the main problem with the ages is, that the devs want to have unique gameplay for every age. And Stone/Bronze/Classic doenst have that much different gameplay.

I really agree on the Leaders and on the Fog of war.
I promised myself I would never buy a game with forced wokeness, and well - this is it. No Genghis Khan, no Gandhi - but Harriet Tubman?? As if she is a world leader, as if she was anything but a social activist - she was important, for the time yes; but to be listed along side Nepolian is just laughable.

I'm afraid in-experienced Devs, wokeness has infected this studio, like it has many many others. Younger Devs today are just not as good as the older lot, they force their narratives, introduce development aspects that they arrogantly decide is optimal (lol, I mean - look at the UI, who on earth decided that was a good design??). Add to that fact that they will slap on a huge amount of paid-DLC to flesh the game out.

This is a discount sale at best.
some of the "leaders" weren't even leaders of nations like Mr.One Hundred dollar bill. also Gandhi is missing
Regarding the small maps - This is probably because they had the same deadline for consoles AND pc/mac. They had to keep things tight so there wouldn't be issues with xbox S owners saying their game is overheating.

We'll probably get the large & huge map options on the Day 1 patch on Feb 11, if not March.

I see it the way you do. I'm aware that new Civ installments often distinguish themselves by changing things. But especially Civ players who have been playing their favorite game for so long are usually older people like me who miss things they've grown fond of, like workers that you can control. But what I find worst of all is the change of eras. And that you have so few map sizes. And also that you can't better adjust your game, which should last many hours, and set it up with victory conditions, etc., as before. CIV is developing into a building e-game. I understand that from the developers' point of view, they want to appeal to a broad player base to get more customers. I don't like this development of simplification into an e-sports title at all.
The Fog of war with hexagon is plain stupid and ugly , can't customize civs, cities , armies, world maps civ selections, enemy selections, can't use builders, workers, slaves, WOKE leaders and removal of other historical ones, historical paths and selection of civs is removed u are forced to play in small islands with ridiculous leader civs combination like Aztecs lead by Frederick whatever or Japanese with Napoleon as leader wtf ...

I picked up Millennia a couple of days ago at 50% off. Apparently it was a mess when it was first released, but I think it's pretty damn good now. It still has some balance stuff to work on and a couple of things that could make it easier for the player to notice some stuff. Otherwise I like a lot of the new ideas I see in it. I'd put it on par with Old World right now.

I think this game is not much about bugs , but the complete new design idea and forced woke vision in it.

I mean with all great leaders in History they went to pick all the woke ideas from black activists to all out female leaders , What about Ramses u get Hatshepsut, instead of Britain you get Zuzzau some black woman , instead of G washington you get a black activist and so on.

oh that's interesting, thank you, I shall have a relook at Millennia. I also realised my initial spelling of said game "Millenenia" means I have been playing Elden Ring far too much :)
