Good, the dev teem are listening to CONSTRUCTIVE feedback and making updates. It can't be easy when every post or comment trying to discuss the game is bombarded by the hive mind of hate that they have to sift through
No. They were hoping to nickel and dime a lot of features into expansions. That or they are completely clueless about their player base. Take your pick.
Look another one of the "everyone who disagrees with me is a hater" post

As a developer myself I kinda agree and don't at the same time.
Your point is valid and constructive feedback is much more valuable than hate,... but in this case, the hate may even be the better pick.

Like, they clearly did not NOT know what they did here was bad. They knew. They knew what they could be doing better. They did not, to get more money out of us. And most of the time that works!
Now, "feedback" is the correct way to handle slight screw ups in design.
"Hate" is the correct way to handle a gaming corporation that gave the keys to the marketing and business people, so they see that those guys have no idea how to make a game.

If the name of the game was anything else, no one would buy it now. They did not get here with games like Civ 7. They are milking the community now. So yeah... I can see both sides, but here I smell corpo guys taking over and the developers screaming bloody murder. They are prob. quite happy for the hate, as they can take it and say:
"Look!? We told you so! Now let us fix the mess you created!"
i mean this is good news but with stuff like this, it would be so interesteing to see the process of how it got to this point. like im sure there are people who play 4x games at firaxis that didnt say "this is fine".

Sweet. If EA or Ubisoft were the dev you know they’d be blaming the playerbase for some sort of “ism”. Good on the Civ devs for listening and given how much they did to Civ 6 I’m hopeful the game will improve.
Hmmm... not a word about any short term hotfix for those of us who can't even get the game to start on our PCs. :LamentMoonman:

I mean,... they are now working on "enabling city and religion names to be customized".
Give me a break here. That is not a "feature" you put into an apology post. That is done in less than 60 seconds by an intern. Just make the variable editable! This "Feature" has been in games for well over 20 years now. Not exactly new feedback from players.
Where have they got early access from? The store page advertises it as advanced access. And it explicitly says "ahead of our full release".

Have they literally pulled early access out of their arse as a response? Genuinely confused why they've worded it like that when it's not been sold as early access.

What would you call playing earlier than the global launch other than “early access”

I wish they were actually acknowledging and addressing the current issue preventing a huge number of people from launching the game. Press play, watch it change colors, then reset to the green play button again. *sigh*

Advanced access. I.e it's the full product. Early access means something completely different and typically would not last 5 days.

It's supposed to be called "advanced access" to differentiate from a unfinished game in early access. The joke is, this is really an unfinished pre beta game. So early access is true.

The level of incompetence is breathtaking. This is version number 7, not number 2. You leave core stuff out that has been in the game for years, either deliberately or incompetence.

"improving the UI".

Lol, no. You need a new one. Tweaks isn't going to cut it.
