Civ 7 Doesn't Download

I stopped trying to play Civ IV back in 2014 after having multiple problems with the newly-imposed gatekeeper/troublemaker called Steam. I ended up purchasing TWO copies of Civ IV, hoping the 2nd time that I would be able to play. No luck after several days of trying. It's been 11 years. I thought by now Steam would have gotten its act together. I was wrong. I paid for Civ 7 a couple of weeks ago, tried to find some way to download beginning at 7:00 a.m. this morning. No luck. I complained to Steam. They finally put a download button on my page at about 9:15 a.m. I have been trying ever since to download. I did all the things one would normally do. I cold rebooted my entire computer before each download attempt. I looked for evidence that a download ever occurred. No evidence. I attempted and succeeded in downloading from two other non-Steam companies on the internet, absolutely no problem, so there is nothing wrong with my computer. God in Heaven, I hate Steam. I hate having to go through this nonsense. If this is not cleared up pronto, I am going to demand my money back and I am going to work like a demon to find a valid telephone number for a Firaxis employee and I am going to complain vigorously about their stupid decision to place their software with Steam. What a colossal mistake Firaxis made in trusting this incompetent company with their game. Steam is beyond incompetent.
