42% is mixed reviews?
Was considering buying the game until I saw the actual reviews. Now I definitely won't buy after seeing Steam try to protect the game. How many of you got a 42% on you school finals and told your parents, "I got mixed results"?

Steam, Let them have the Negative status they deserve. Maybe it will motivate them to fix their problems. Why even have (Negative) and (Mostly Negative) when you constantly do whatever is possible to protect deserving games from that rating?

Literally every Civ game has been the same cycle.

Mixed/negative feedback at launch. Then by 1-2 expansions in or whenever all DLC is gone, majority flips. This isn't new at all.

Your response, is unironically, cope as well.

You are wrong, it has never been that bad, it is an all time down for the franchise. It is easily checkable on steam.
Except I'm not wrong, cuz this was literally the exact same attitude that was shown towards Civ 6 when it launched. You haven't proven I'm wrong on that side.

You can go to the steam page and check the customer review graph, it had many times more positive reviews than negative ones in its first month.
This is the first Civilization I did not preorder. Does make me laugh when I see .01 hrs reviews .
Civ 6 was like this with districts iirc. It’ll eventually go up more towards positive if history has taught us anything.
wait till people that pre ordered find out that when they release theirs 1298361 dlc and pre order wont get any of them

You have 1500+ DLCs on your Account, when did you found out?

It was review bombed within minutes after releasing.

it wasn't review bombed, it bombed. This is awful. I ordered a pizza and they gave me a hotpocket.

They had preorders for Civilization 1 in 1991?

Game you like isn't overwhelmingly positive = review bomb.
Also:

"you played it too few hours, you can't write a negative review because you haven't experienced the game enough"

while at the same time:

"you played it too many hours, you obviously liked it so you can't leave a negative review"

your opinion disagrees with mine therefore you must be wrong

False. I've been watching the reviews since release. Several hours after release there were only 150 reviews and the game was at 38%, many of those reviews were "sponsored" reviews from people who had the game earlier. Since then the review numbers have gradually climbed but that 38% has only gone up a few points.
You can always play Humankind. It's free on Epic Games right now. Personally I am enjoying Civ 7 a ton so far, oh and if you filter the reviews by 6+ hours played then they are mostly positive.

Eh, it was likely review bombed. That being said. it's a civ game. Civ games are always ♥♥♥♥ on release.
That is a well known fact.

Wait for patches and dlc for it to get good. Especially since this civ game just stole nicked ideas from humankind.
Game feels more like Civ clone than actual game of the series. It's better game than 5 and 6 were at release, but that is very low bar as both were dreadful games without expansions. The more I play 7 the less and less I like it while first few hours I actually liked it quite a lot. Very few improvements while many things have taken step or ten backwards.

I dunno why devs keep thinking everything needs to be micromanaged and done manually nor why nothing can feel rewarding. It makes the game feel like a chore and more you advance the more chores keep piling up. Micromanagement used to be something you did mostly early and it was simply more rewarding way to play as opposed to having automation do trivial things potentially in less optimal way. Civ 6 onwards it has been only way to play and it doesn't even feel rewarding which feels like the essence of 7. Just bland unrewarding micromanagement all around with tedium building up. Changes aren't done for sake of improvement, instead changes feel like they were done for sake of change and nothing more:steamsad:
