Only your Generals get XP now, and they give their bonuses to everyone in range.

Thanks man...

so trash...
How is it trash? Your generals give awesome bonuses, and you can launch coordinated attacks on a target with a single click making combat less tedious.

im sure it gets less tedious once you get used to it.

right now though im stuggling to remember to click the unpack button once i get close to the enemy and forget that the units i need to pack still need to have movement left. its a bit of a frustrating learning process.

They get XP from each fight that happens in their range too, from what I understand. SO they should level up quicker than leveling all the individual units up would have.
Units have tiers, haven't paid too much attention but you might start with a Tier 1 unit and then use tech to unlock Tier 2. Not sure if you can upgrade existing Tier 1... by the time I though to check I had more advance unit types it could be upgraded to.

Commanders are key. They have some actions that direct your units to attack en masse, so they have utility in addition to just being a buff generator.

Actually a really good change.
So far, I'm fully in favour of the "Commanders" system. No more need to individually farm XP for each unit in my army; just park the Commander in a block of troops and attack away. I also like how the bonuses are segregated by fighting style rather than by unit type, allowing me to adopt my own tactics.

Im not saying generals are trash, Im saying the fact that it doesn't matter if your unit has killed 15 others or is brand new is trash.

Making sure you save, level up and promote certain units who are the backbone of your army made all the sense.

That's the Commander now. He's the backbone of your army and must be protected at all cost.
Yeah, the commander XP is much better than unit xp was!

That's on you. Doesn't make the system trash.

Loosing one in the modern age when you leveled him up from the beginning... that must hurt a lot

Ignore Larkis please, he's been living all day spamming discussions like a sad little troll with the most negative sentiment imaginable. He's a bad egg...
