Requires AVX2 support? Anyone seeing this
Apparently Windows ARM PC's do not support this. It is required for Civ 7. WTF!!!

Does it require AVX2? I've found nothing official about this.

Daniel.
can someone verify this ? this would explain a lot
My desktop doesn't have AVX2, and game fails to launch. Steam Deck, however, does support AVX2, and game runs fine.

So that does increasingly appear to be the common denominator.
Same, I have no AVX2 support too, but I havent seen the AVX2 requirement.

So it would be nice to have a clarification from the dev / mod about this.
Someone on that thread just verified that they are running the Canary build with AVX2 extensions, and it still fails for them.
If you run Windows 11 24h2 on an ARM PC you could try Windows Prism I guess, this has the AVX2 support.

Im not sure about the "there is hope part" (how?).

From what i understand avx2 is probably used for mac, they probably forgot to remove it for windows and probably linux that's why, the weird thing is vulkan should be able to run without avx2 so i guess we need a 3rd build without avx2 asap, i could be wrong. Losing customers is not in their interest.
What I find interesting is the complete radio silence on this issue. Firaxis are hopefully working feverishly to fix.

It's not even been added as an issue which is crazy.

There is an in-game option to disable AVX. If your game doesn't start, try looking in the ini files and disabling it there.

Please elaborate. Where to find this fix? Which file needs to be changed?

Edit: Reread your post. So there's actually a setting in the game itself to disable AVX2 support?

I just looked through the settings and couldn't find this. (The game runs on my sons PC, but not mine!)

Where exactly can you find this in the files
Ok the file should be here,

C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Local\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VII\AppOptions.txt

However it won't be if the game hasn't successfully started.

The section is,

;Disable AVX/AVX2 instructions completely in Wwise lib.
;DisableWwiseAVXInstructions 0

0 should be disabled as far as I can tell. Changing it to 1 and 2 did nothing.
