Founders Edition - Worth it for a new player?
I'm new the franchise, and have no problem spending money for something that I'm sure I'll enjoy. But, since I don't really know a whole lot about the "Civ" games, I'm wondering if the Founders Edition is worth it for a new player? I see that it comes with 2 new leaders and some cosmetics. Perhaps a few other things, I'm not sure. I'm probably going to end up buying (The FE) in just a few minutes, but wanted to see what others thought of the offerings included in that edition, especially for a new player.

I have Civ 6 in my library, bought it years ago to play, but never really got around to it. This past week, though, I tried it out. But, not for long because I actually want to start my Civ journey with the "latest and greatest".

Can you give me some pointers on what went wrong with Civ 7, in your opinion? They must be pretty bad if you refunded, so I'm a little concerned now :cybereye:

If this is how you've been with Civ games in the past, I can recommend not getting the Founders edition. You're way better off waiting for an actual sale, because you're probably not going to get your moneys worth at RRP.

civ 7 is civ 6 with new dress and couple of game designs that Millenia and Humankind did way better...but main issue is that is still in early access - you get that after 20 minutes in
I've said it in another thread, but I think the core game is there and is good. If you're new to the series, I'd probably recommend waiting.

Unfortunate, but the game is definitely rough in quite a few areas still, all of which I think would hinder someone new coming in and playing.

It honestly doesn't make the best first impression.
I mean you can buy the standard see if you like it and if you do can always upgrade later from the 11th and will only be able to play then anyway with STD. Though bear in mind the founders is only available till the 28th Feb

Well, even though a few folks have said it's rough around the edges, I went ahead and bought the Founders Edition, since it's only available for a limited time. I believe that Firaxis will do their best to fix whatever issues are plaguing the game right now, so I can wait until they do so. In the meantime, I guess I'll try Civ 6 again and get some learning under my belt while I wait.

Thank you to everyone that responded!

Just remember that Civ 6 originally released without the ability to rename cities. It missed such basic features. That's how rough we're saying Civ 7 is.

The game is Minimal Viable Product made with a thought that it is going to be on consoles as well. Probably even on Switch 1 and old tablets.
Poor perfomance, interface made for consoles but you have to tolerate this interface on pc, no ai improvements.
my game wont even launch immediately crashes on me

The cosmetics aren't worth it. The new leaders are... not really worth it.

There are a lot of haters that are crying that this game isn't Civ 6. Every Civ has been a dramatic departaure from the previous games. I've been playing them since Civ 1.

Should you (or anyone) get the Founder's Edition? I did. But you shouldn't. It's not worth the money. This game is fairly mediorce-- not because it isn't Civ 6 but because it's a slog to play. Do yourself a favour. Wait until next week if you're dying to play it. And wait for a sale if you aren't. If you buy it when the first expansion drops or later, you'll enjoy the game more and pay less money.

The short version is that this game needs like 3x the civs that it has.

The interface definitely is not made for consoles. Play the game with a controller. It's bad. It's really bad. Late game resource management? Forget about it.
