Advanced Settings Missing
Previous games let you change the # of civilizations on the map, also more options on map size. This game seems to be missing that. Is it coming or should I ask for my $ back?

Hi the same herę. WTF?
Yeah, I saw a review a week or so ago that said he didn't like changing the options because it wasn't balanced right if you did. now I see there are no options. WTF. I like playing on huge maps with slow paced games. Now it seems you can't change any of that? Why did none of the reviewers mentions this?

Because they listen to the Devs, try to understand the reasons and play the game as it is supposed to be.

There not little chhilds that can only scream "i only accept my way!"

the regimented way you have to play civ in stages means the options got trimmed a lot, you play civ 7 the way your told to , expand now , sail now, now do trade etc

by default it is set to max players for the map size, but you can lower it.
at the top it says game settings, there is another tab next to it called player settings, that is the tab you want.

I found the options. It seems that on the first two tries to play the option screen didn't load. The third try it did load just before you start the game. So either a bug or they are intentionally not giving you the options the first two times. But one, I have heard if you try to play on the slower game speeds, the game is not properly balanced. Haven't tried this myself so not sure. one person said it was fine. Two said it was not. Two. There is no way to make larger maps. You can only make tiny, small and standard. Also. Advanced options is just the same options as the regular options on a different screen. Which tells me something was deleted. I can only hope they put it back.

As to your statement, this was a concern of mine before I got the game. That they are restricting the player too dam much in the way he can play. As Padds said, they are almost dictating to you how you have to play. The game looks like it might be fun but I am not liking at all how we seem to be getting pigeonholed holed into playing a certain way

Thank You, Wolfpost

I am sadly close to refunding because there are no game setup options. The map is too crowded and the AIs forward settle you before you even find them. It's disgusting.

Ah, I too am seeing some more options on starting the second game. Still no control over map size and number of opponents, but maybe that will appear on game 3. Crossing fingers.

OK, they are all there on the second game, just placed oddly. You have to pick the general stuff and hit "continue" to be offered the advanced settings. Weird but as long as they are there...

every time i do that, it just ends up filling the empty slots with random leaders/civs. Why have the player settings if theyre not even correctly applied?

I can change # and type of Civs with the advanced options/player tab. You just add/subtract the number of players and/or change them from random to specific leaders.

This really feels like a stripped down, dumbed down version of Civ ready to ship for console and likely could be a mobile game all at the expense of true strategy fans.

There is so much missing from great people to military engineers. I guess we can't tunnel through mountains anymore. A very minor impact on gameplay, but a a very cool thing to be able to do in your civ.
I chose only 2 opponents in the advanced options by chosing their leaders, deleting all other lines for opponents. Both of them appeared very early (after maybe 30 turns). Now in turn 59 I get the news that I met Xerxes as 3rd opponent. WTF?
