Game not launching
installed via Steam and when it completed and I go to launch, it asks me to select launch option. I select DX 12 and then nothing happens. Steam indicates I am playing for about two seconds and then immediately switches to tell me to launch the game again. No error message, nothing at all. I have tried rebooting and uninstalling and reinstalling. I am really unsure what the issue is. Founder edition game was gifted to me? Could that be it?
I have Microsoft Surface computer running Windows 11 which runs VI fine. Could it be Qualcomm Snapdragon X issue? Anyone else having similar issue and have a fix?

Fix for PC! It helped me to start the game. It seems that CIV7 requires avx2 CPU instructions to launch the game. All new Intel CPU's have this instructions. So as mine but they where by default disabled in my BIOS. Please check if your CPU should support avx2 and if yes open BIOS and turn it on. Now few more games like Indiana Jones or Call Of Duty started also to work🥳

That might explain why some people with newer CPUs are having problems.

I suppose the other way to approach this problem is to ask, has anybody with a CPU that doesn't support AVX2 gotten it to run?
Well, I got a response to the support ticket I sent to 2K. I was hoping it would have some useful information, but nope, it's 100% useless. I clearly stated in the ticket that I'm trying to run the game in Linux and even sent a full print out of my system specifications produced by Steam, and the response I received was focused on troubleshooting steps for Windows along with a request for a copy of my DxDiag and MSinfo files. Again, I'm running Linux!

So 2K is obviously not going to be any help if they don't even bother to read the ticket before responding.

I am still having this problem on my Mac. I have not seen a fix. Does anyone know what is going on?

Devs have said nothing about it.

Daniel.
Has anyone tried this AVX2 emulator fix? - https://steamcommunity.com/app/1295660/discussions/0/591762563949158274/ - it on another thread, but haven't had the chance to test is yet.

I believe I read that someone had to no success. If you give it a go yourself, let us know.

Daniel.
Did anybody manage to get a refund? Pretty annoying

Have Steam or Firaxis issued any statements, surely they are aware of the situation, happy to take your money and then leave you to deal with the issues without any support, not impressed with the whole situation.

Dear fellow citizens, after much testing with 2k support they have determined that my old generation ultra fast processor will not run civilization7.... And that the only way to make it work is to upgrade it. To my question if they are going to implement a compatibility patch before I start spending money on upgrading a fast pc, I have not heard back.

In my case, I bought civilization 7 foundation on cdkeys.com, Steam doesn't want to take care of the refund and directs me to cdkeys. On the cdkeys website they say that the code is already activated and they won't refund me. A sad road to frustration. 100 € down the drain. My advice is to buy it on a platform like Steam 30€ more expensive but you have the possibility to return it.

Regarding the minimum specs, don't trust them as 2k don't specify the technologies they use in the programming they have used and don't take anything for granted, people with a 4090 aren't getting it working because of some component but as they don't specify you can never be sure.

Good luck mate!
Thanks for following up. The silence from 2K has been the worst part of this, and even knowing that there is no hope is better than their utter silence.
I can't get the game to run on DirectX 12, but it works just fine with Vulcan
i5-8600 and RTX 3060Ti combo
