I suppose the other way to approach this problem is to ask, has anybody with a CPU that doesn't support AVX2 gotten it to run?
So 2K is obviously not going to be any help if they don't even bother to read the ticket before responding.
Devs have said nothing about it.

I believe I read that someone had to no success. If you give it a go yourself, let us know.

In my case, I bought civilization 7 foundation on cdkeys.com, Steam doesn't want to take care of the refund and directs me to cdkeys. On the cdkeys website they say that the code is already activated and they won't refund me. A sad road to frustration. 100 € down the drain. My advice is to buy it on a platform like Steam 30€ more expensive but you have the possibility to return it.
Regarding the minimum specs, don't trust them as 2k don't specify the technologies they use in the programming they have used and don't take anything for granted, people with a 4090 aren't getting it working because of some component but as they don't specify you can never be sure.
Good luck mate!
