Game not launching
installed via Steam and when it completed and I go to launch, it asks me to select launch option. I select DX 12 and then nothing happens. Steam indicates I am playing for about two seconds and then immediately switches to tell me to launch the game again. No error message, nothing at all. I have tried rebooting and uninstalling and reinstalling. I am really unsure what the issue is. Founder edition game was gifted to me? Could that be it?
I have Microsoft Surface computer running Windows 11 which runs VI fine. Could it be Qualcomm Snapdragon X issue? Anyone else having similar issue and have a fix?

I don't think any of the launch times have occurred yet as of the time of your post and this reply to it. I don't know, I may be wrong. It's about 6:30 pm Central Standard Time as I'm posting this reply. I don't know where you live and what the release time is for your time zone.

People are definitely playing right now and I believe Firaxis posted early access availability times globally and for ET North America it would be 6PM ET

The only people I know who are playing are reviewers at this point and not the general public.

At EST I believe you should still have about 4 and half hours before release. The times are posted to a pin in these forums.

Early access released about 1.5hr ago - globally. Same time for everyone, just different local times of course!

I'm having the same problem, but in Linux. Native Linux version, I press the play button, but it doesn't launch. I then tried the Windows version with Proton, and same thing the OP describes, I get the DirectX 12/Vulcan popup, and then the game just exits.

Thankfully, it works fine on my Steam Deck, so I guess that's what I'll be playing on for the time being until a solution is found.

I'm having the same issue. Sometimes it loads to the intro video then freezes, crash, repeat.

hmm unfortunately i don't have steam deck but somewhat relieved it's not unique to me. really hope it's not a founders edition or my laptop issue. hoping this is not a long issue to resolve...pretty disappointing though to pay for early access and not get it.

The photo shows that the release time is Midnight Eastern time.

Mine only started working after I installed the Nvidia Driver app and updated my drivers. Spent 2 hrs trying to figure it out and now it works. I'm on PST

many others are confirming they are playing on the east coast and i saw a firaxis post on reddit a few days ago that confirmed 6PM EST on the 5th
