Local play with one copy?
My wife and I play Civ together. We don;t play often but we do enjoy our sessions. We want to get Civ 7 as a Valentine's gift for one another and to play together, but cannot afford 200-300 bucks for a couple deluxe copies. Would like to buy one and share it between the two of us. We used to be able to do this with older copies by having Steam in offline mode on one account and online with another. Now we have Family Beta for all our games and those tricks don't work anymore. Can you play CIv 7 with just one copy shared locally (not hot seat) or do you really need two copies?

As long as Civ 7 supports family sharing, then it will be possible.
I didnt see it on the list of features, so don't think it does

No. Hotseat isn't in either (yet.)
Just to confirm, it does not work.

We also tried the the old offline/online trick and no luck. Both computers (running the same account) can play, but they can't find each other in the LAN menu.

Are both devices connected to the same network? I've been doing offline LAN just fine since launch.
