so the scores for the newer game is less than all the others, they are still decent scores though.
also, pigeon vs Game Journalist is a real thing and the pigeon won...
No reviewer with an audience will give a low score "for the sake of it" because they are not insane.
For example, the Gamespot reviewer that gave Cyberpunk 2077 a relatively low score (7) was harassed for weeks, doxxed and gotten death threats over it.
I don't think anyone would ever want that, this is just a paycheck, not worth it.
Vitriol. Hate. Anger. Rage. Etc. These get the most interactions, thus the most income.
Civ, has always been a troubled game series at launch due to the myriad variable factors that come into play with PC gaming and the near infinite amount of possible builds that can exist out there at any given time.
They could make the game so it runs perfectly without any flaws on at least one setup rig of parts as per the minimum-recommended requirements; and people will still find issues with it. Somehow.
I'm not buying it, because of Denuvo. I would have bought it in the past even though it had denuvo or some other such. But not this time. It could work perfectly on my machine. Still not buying it.
Why?
Because I know from experience that after they get their lions share of the income possible from the sale of this release, they'll finally fix most of those problems people have with it; and it will be on sale no less.
This is a result of their marketing methods, their development methods, their publishing methods, etc. Unintended consquences as it were. They didn't intend for people to buy their game less than before. They intended for it to be bought more due to the attempt to thwart piracy. The result? Less people are going to buy it now, because they as legal buyers of the product are being treated as criminals.
Will the game be fun? Some will think so. Might even be right.
Will the game run well enough? Probably, though like usual with all Civ games, an upgrade will probably be needed for some folk.
Will the game be worth the money? Right now?
No, probably not. Civ is often a game I buy, try a few times at launch to see how it's doing, then put aside for a few months to a year or so for the devs to finish their job.
Will it be worth it once on sale?
Yes, almost without a doubt. Only almost, because Beyond Earth still exists, and still isn't fixed properly.
If they are stupid enough to make financial choices like denuvo, I don't have high hopes for this game at all.
Guess you like strategy games with a non functioning AI. You do you I guess.
