I am terrible at these games...so Governor, and we will see. I have seen many players do well on Deity, so perhaps the AI is a little more forgiving. Also..these are the best Civ players in the world.

I've started every version of Civ as the Egyptians, I'm pretty sure, so why change now? I do love building wonders. The synergy with Hatshepsut and river tiles is too good to pass up on my first run, so I'll probably go the obvious. From there, I'll let the map determine...

There are a number of interesting combos, but I think I'll go for Hatsheput/Egypt and enjoy the river/desert bonuses. Then probably the Abbasids--then who knows? :)

The river systems are pretty cool. I really like how they allow you to move the ships upstream.

This is valid. You are only going to have a small number of options, some of which will be unusual...get three towns on a river? Songhai. You will get unlocks you hadn't planned on, or expected.

since we are starting on easier mode, im choosing the weakest leaders to start out..

Personally, I am excited for the way happiness works in Civ VII. I will first try Maurya along with either Jose Rival or Ashoka (world renouncer) to see what stacking multiple happiness bonuses will look like. Not entirely sure on future eras, but I know my second playthrough will be a Greece or Han diplomatic/influence game with Ibn Battuta.
