You're welcome, until next time!

As long as these early access games, complete with DLCs, can be successfully sold at full price, nothing will change
What do you think it's worth then?

Please don't say $20 or 30.

Games weren't that cheap in the 80s.

We should actually consider ourselves glad that inflation did not hit games and software as hard (growing demand basically outpaced development cost and was balanced by advertising).

It's hard for me to reliably check what Civ 1 did cost in 1991 but I doubt it did cost $30 (which would be about $70 today) when even back then $40-60 was commonplace.

Sure, selling the DLC for $30 each is pretty exploitative but let's be real, do you really need it? Right on release? If anything, Civ is a series I frequently replayed over the years (5 & 6) and DLC are very much a breath of fresh air and they are likely to be on a big sale with others. What'd be far more disappointing of Civ 7 has the same modding limitations as 6 (very low asset limit).

I've really stopped buying games that are in early access or feel unfinished, like this one. Even some content creators who have early access are finding it hard to defend the incomplete and underdeveloped features. Ultimately, the sales figures for this release version will determine the game's true value. For now, I don't think it's worth purchasing.

It's hard to say without seeing it in all its glory lol but $60 tops haha I feel that's acceptable especially with all the DLC stuff they push and at those prices. Honestly I bought 6 at $45 which I felt was a fair price especially after the DLC prices, some of which added great stuff. But i imagine all thay great stuff added? Not present in this title lol
It's a mere $10/Civ unit. Get a job.

You know anyone hiring 1 armed people who can't stand or sit for super long cuz a bad right hip, and varicose viens in my left leg, and sometimes needs a cane but it's hard to use cuz my right leg bad but can only put weight on my left arm... also I have 50% hearing loss 🤣

$10 raises the standard by a lot rofl and that's the entry fee, I'd bet DLC in the end will make it worth 250+ until the full edition...
All this talk of how expensive Civ is reminds me of just how much value per entertainment dollar I've gotten out of the Civ franchise. Even with DLCs and optional civs, I'm paying less than a dime ($0.1) per hour spent. And those have been pleasurable hours :)

The replayability of Civ games is out the roof, so normal complaints about games you're only going to play once don't apply.

The Civilization games have been an elite franchise forever. Knowing how often I will play this game compared to the other games makes the $ well worth it. It will pay for itself from preventing me with experimenting with other games by scratching that itch.

To claim it's not worth it, not knowing the amount of developing hours and resources that went into this version is simply ignorant.

However if $70 is an earth shattering number to you, I fully recommend not purchasing and waiting for that sale. This should be a discretionary purchase.

Funnily enough, they were about 30 dollars in the 80s (Generally, like 29.99 or about 82.00 today adjusted for inflation.) Back in the early 90s at the end of the Doom shareware screen it asked for 40.00. E.T. For Atari was uh... under 20, but I don't think that really counts as a game.

Of course, on the flip side we had games like Ultima 6 release for 70.00 (125.00!! now) in 1990. And in the 80s, you were looking just north of 30 (~33.00) for some classics like Frogger.

While I hate the fact that games coming out now have a price increase, it's unfortunately understandable. In all honesty I'd be more willing to pay 70 for a Civ 4 remake in 64 bit than I would Civ 7 though. I just really enjoyed the complexity more, and despite everyone screaming "doom stacks"; There were ways to take them on without trying to exploit the game.
