You clearly can play on online speed, as opposed to standard, as several of the previewers do just that, to allow them to advance further into an age in fewer turns. This implies marathon will be available as well, because why not, if they allow any options beyond standard? It's simple arithmetic to make yields come out alright on a different speed.
I believe that maps at least as big as approx what Large is in 6, will be available. One previewer started Exploration on a home continent that had 8 total civs, and those civs not at all crowded together, which is why I say at least Large seems likely. Another previewer said that Huge won't be in 7, at least not yet.
Haven't seen the full list of map types, but they do have Continents, and every such map I have seen in play has a fair number of islands visible in Exploration. They also have Archipelago. We saw Terra Incognita in the Exploration dev livestream.
I don't recall seeing any button that let you dial wetness up or down. None of the videos I have seen had the previewer fiddle with such a setting, but not many of them showed the setup screen at all. I recall that the setup screen did have an "advanced setup" button, but I never saw a previewer click the button to reveal what any of those options might be.
Some of the civs do have starting biases that I assume would get you started near wetness.
Online, Quick, Standard, Epic and Marathon Game Speed.
Map Sizes in the dev stream there was tiny, small and standard sizes. (Could be multiplayer only)
You can have dynamic moves or standard, personally dislike dynamic as it lets the player who has the best ping etc to spam moves and effectively exploit the mechanic.
He didn't show the map types. I understand from potatoe that Pangaea has gone from the selection.
is there a way to really enjoy the feel of having musketeers before you rush into the next weapons upgrade and they are obsolete?
