playing Civ VII on a Mac

I just found out that the Windows and Console versions of Civ VII will be released in February 2025 but the Mac version will be released later. This is not mentioned on the Steam store page or any of the marketing materials. I was listening to one of the videos created by the developers and it was casually mentioned about half way through the video. They did not say when the Mac version would be available. I am glad I found this out before I wasted my money on the new Civ.

Yeah following the usual way. It was the same with VI - was a couple of months before Mac version was released

Not sure what Mac version you mean or expect, but the FAQ on the official website says this:

What platforms will Sid Meier's Civilization VII be available on?

Sid Meier's Civilization VII will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam (which also supports Mac and Linux) and the Epic Games Store.

Which explicitly mentions that the Steam version also supports Mac and Linux.

See the post above. Buy it on Steam (or a Steam key) and you'll be able to play on Mac on day one.

I know they anounce that it will be on steam, i just dont know if its 100% certain it will be on day one. Because i bought "Humankind" to play on MAC and i have to wait a lot to release. And they also said it will be on mac.

Look at the FAQ on the civilization.com website: it explicitely (as I quoted) that Mac will be available on Steam. In streams they have mentioned that it will be a simulatneous release. The Steam store page mentions all platforms as well.
Since there is no mention of any of those coming later, they will be at the same time.

Are you running a M1 (or any iteration of it) chip? I'm on an intel-based Mac, and its not even running.

I'm on a Mac Studio with M2 chip. You need an M1 at least :( Sorry! If you can install Sequoia or Sonoma on your Mac it *might* run.
