Your other questions though, I won’t play something that’s “woke” which is usually just forced LGBT propaganda or diversity that’s out of place.
I also think your side is hypocritical as your side too complains about movies, films and games, like saying Kingdom Come Deliverance or Witcher 3 were too white and needed diversity.
I'm sure left wing cries about stuff also. No denying that. I'm not left or right, BTW. I just don't see the left boycotting games, t.v. shows and such.
I think it is good to be woke. It means to be aware of things. The term woke is being misused. From what I have seen, woke is just a cover for bigoted thoughts most of the time.
But woke is a buzzword that is actively over used to describe something people don't like, whether it actually is or not. That being said there is nothing wrong with being angry at "wokeness" in the extreme cases, as you should on any end of any extreme. Representation and inclusion are good things, but it should never be at the expense of one group (something both sides do in fact do), or taken to an active extreme, because then it becomes preachy slop that no one on any side of the political spectrum can enjoy because it turns into either buzzword soup, or forcing an extreme even the people they're trying to represent can't stand it.
It's a question of corporate attempts at diversity to make more money and it just sucks, vs the genuine attempt at inclusion, which usually turns out quite well (Compare Concord to Balders Gate, both games promoted and encouraged diversity, but one was actually part of a genuinely enjoyable product, and was done in a thoughtful way, rather then slamming it all together to meet a business quota)
As for "wokeness" in civ 7, calling a game that has had a history of diverse leaders, african leaders and progressive themeings "becoming woke" just now, and only now with civ 7 just goes to show that a lot of people who complain about "wokeness" in civ 7 have never actually played a civ game before. Like with the Tubmann discourse, there are good points to be made on both sides, but extremes just drown out discourse. There's genuine criticism of "There's other progressive and african-american figures that could fit the role just as well, and would thematically fit with the game more, such as MLK or Malcom X", but then theres the extreme of "Black Woman leading america = bad"
While I agree there is always going to be extremes on both sides. Saying something is too woke is like saying someone is too informed or people are being treated too fairly.
Woke is being aware of a subject. Someone can never be too woke.
Now, too sensitive about a subject is a good way to describe the left sometimes, while being bigoted is more correct about the right, IMHO.
The term woke was taken over by the right because they did not like people being open to black, female, LGTBQ, minorities, etc.
The contention mainly comes down to how good that representation is.
Is it natural, is it thoughtful, is it fun, or is it lazy, is it marvel "they said the line!!", is it forced in last minute, is it businesses trying to meet a quota or is it done because you want to expand choice and cultures in your game?
Do you do it like Balders Gate where you can make a character represent you as best as possible, have options available to explore countless diverse avenues, both culturally or in identity etc, and have just an objectively fun game with endless replay ability
or
Do you do it like Rings of Power where you have a hatred of the source material, have god awful writing and dialogue, and just include random stuff just for the sake of it, rather then make any genuine effort at representation, you just include it because you think it will make you look good
“ Mixed-race adolescents showed higher risk when compared with single-race adolescents on general health questions, school experience, smoking and drinking, and other risk variables. Conclusions. Adolescents who self-identify as more than 1 race are at higher health and behavior risks.”
Wanna know the funniest thing? This is actually from google lol 😆 the first result

Definitely not going to play the first two.
Will definitely play the last two.
Has nothing to do with DEI. It never does. It has a lot to do with artistic style.
Deliverance is a write off. Never liked the first one due to the unwieldy combat.
I love Obsidian, but Avowed looks like a game that I'd only play if there were no better options. It reminds me of Elex. An average game that can wait for a rainy day within a slow release stretch. When the gaming industry is in a slump and you're bored out of your skull.
