the Civ team might be full of Frenchies...
It's even worse for them. The French Empire has way more direct militarily beneficial uniques than America does. If they want world conquest, they have to either play as France, or maybe do some economic and scientific development in order to build a military in the Modern that even France's uniques will not be able to match. It looks like best path for that would be to play as Confucius, with Han China to Ming China to America.
I'm beginning to think that it's possible that the devs are doing this on purpose, just to tweak the USA #1 nativist crowd.
