The Future of CIV VII
Personally, I wonder if the game can be saved in the future with mods or add-ons so that it becomes a real CIV, or if I can forget about this part after paying $130 for it. What do you think, can it still be something, or is that it? I'm going to uninstall it for now. No idea how this is going to continue...

I don't think it ill approach Civ V or even VI levels but it can become a solid 7-7.5/10 game for sure.

IMO crazy that they charged so much for people to play early, and disgusting that they clearly cut popular content from the base game so they can later sell it as over priced DLC later. Just greed on top of greed nothing more.Kind thing that another game I played did and it killed my mood to even want really play the game and ended up just killing the game whole series and chance for a third squeal on top if it as well. It funny to me that this game opening says we should learn from our past, but obvious the greedy ♥♥♥♥ head behind marketing this game didn't learn anything from mistakes other companies have made doing exact same thing when comes to cutting content and charging for it later in DLCs.
Yes, I trusted the developers completely and bought it without thinking. That was a no-brainer for me. Hey, it's Civ, I thought to myself. You can be wrong. That will definitely never happen to me again.

Frankly, if you think Civ VII needs to be "saved", then there is likely nothing that can or will be done to suddenly turn it into a game that you enjoy.

I'm afraid you might be right 😥

So it's settled. It's a lost cause.

Of course it can be saved. Fixing the UI is just a matter of time.

The ages and civ switching can be fixed as well. With the poor sales of Civ 7 I think they will keep those changes for the expansion pack. If you can play any civ from the beginning and keep it for the entire game, a lot of people are back in.

Personally I think Firaxis needs to go into panic mode and work 30 hour days until the game is extraordinary fun to play but realistically I think we are getting minimal changes and only leader/civ DLC packs for the next 2 years.

There are already some Mods, and the best source that I know of is Civ Fanatics. There is already a great one that de-clutters the map a bit, makes things a bit easier on the eyes and addresses some of the concerns players have expressed.

As Firaxis addresses the problems it knows about, the fellow who put this mod out for us to use updates his, to remove HIS fix for the problem. The link to his UI mod is at the end of this post. Have a good look around at all the CIV 7 downloads and I think you might feel better.

Personally, I think the game is already a solid 7 or 8 out of 10, and by this time next year will be a full-on 10/10. I am putting in 4 or 5 hours each day, and am impressed. Sure, it's a big change from all Civs before it, but once I embraced the "era" concept it all fell into place. I'm by no means an expert player, but I have owned and played EVERY Civ release, and haven't had this much fun since Civ V came out.

Civ 7 has pretty much turned me off of the entire franchise (and the company that made it).

After playing/buying every previous Civ game, I see no need to buy this game, nor any future game should they go in the same direction.

Fixaris wants to make games for Steamdeck and console? Fine.

They don't want my money, then.
I would like them to drop or make optional the current victory conditions in favour of ones based on your nations stats rather then completed missions, as it is right now as an example if you want the economic victory in the second age you need to play the treasure fleets game, I feel will change in the future because its just to blunt, to inflexible.

I would like the city building part of the game to be more fun, I dont mind what shape this takes so long as it improves

I would like more detail on how religion works, and the way it spreads needs to change, also there need to be more home benefits for religion, not really an overhaul since I dont think there is much too it right now

I would like diplomacy to be more complex, and I would like to be able to take/offer more in peace deals then just cities.

I would also like to see a stone age added before the current starting one and a coldwar, information and future era added on the end, DLC or whatever.

I know the stone age era is weird but I think the current starting age would be better if it had a pre-built civ, let the stoneage one be the exploring one and the antiquity era be defined by luxuries and innovation.

One last add - I think it might be better if they give you the option to keep your civs flag and name between eras while adopting look and stats of the next one, that might help with that missing feeling of continuity, so you might choose Spains stats and look, but all the citys default to Roman names and stuff like that because you stayed as Rome into era two.

I think these are realistic requests

I like, the new directiin no need to change that. I still think it will have its playerbase and a profit for firaxis.

From what I've gathered here, we are no longer in the golden age.
