Archaeology with Explorers

When I dig up artifacts, it doesn't show in the grand tally for each continent. It says I discovered all for a continent, when I never found any. Is this part bugged, or am I doing something wrong. It will let me dig up some, but it is very limited.

The pool of artifacts are shared. If another Civ digs up an artifact, you don’t get that one.

Archaeology is a massive race. You have to be active, grab as many explorers as you can and rush it as your first civic to stand a chance of completing it. It’s also pretty much the earliest victory you can complete unless you’re very aggressive with war and operation Ivy.

I’m not seeing anything on it over a google search. Can someone confirm if you take a city that has a museum in it you also gain the artifacts inside? I’d assume that’d be the way to do it.

Just completed a game as Tubman last night and even though she’s the premiere spy leader I can confirm there’s no option to steal great works at any point in the game. And yes I tried to find it extensively.

Conquering cities with museums should do the trick?

It's not very difficult to rush all the artifacts though. Just won the game with World's Fair without even researching antiquity archeology.

Yes, I can confirm that when you conquer a city that houses a lot of artifacts, those artifacts are now yours!
