Unable to Slot Factory Resources into My Factories
I am 68% through the Modern Age and am winning right now, mostly because of my military score. However, I an not able to advance my Economic score due to being unable to slot any factory resources into my Factories.

For example, I built a rail connection in three settlements, then built a factory in two settlements that were cities. A grayed factory icon shows up in those two cities, and I have lots of factory resources available, but the game isn't letting me slot any of them into my factories. It is probably something simple that I've overlooked, but I cannot figure it out.

Has anyone else figured out the secret to slotting factory resources into factories?

Ok, I might be explaining what you already know, but before you can slot any factory resources to the city you need to drag the type of resource that city is going to specialize in over to the slot by the factory icon. At which point you can then fill the regular slots with that type of resource.

Here is my chocolate factory city

So you need the factory slot on the right filled before you can slot others. At least I am pretty sure that needs tobe done first.

You don't need to do it that way but you can.
First.. you need to build a factory in the city.
Then drag the specific item you want into your luxury slot, your factory will than make that item for you. But it can only make 1 item of all the stuff listed..

If your city is filled with resources and none of them are manufacturing resources, you need to open up a slot first to make the factory slot available.

In other words, the factory slot isn't truly it's own 'extra' slot

Hooray.

I previously had filled up all of my resource slots, and was then trying to move a factory resource to the factory icon on the right-hand side.

Following your advice, I waited till the next resource allocation opportunity, then removed one resource from my factory cities and then moved a factory resource into the now empty city resource slot, and Voila - that factory resource now also shows up next to my factory icon.

Thank you - thank you - thank you!!!!

Huh, yep I just loaded a save. I could have sworn the first time I tried to drag a factory resource to a general luxury slot it wouldn't slot until I had dragged it to the factory specific slot. Maybe I had a bug back before the first patch. But checking a save shows that it definitely does slot like you say now.

Though speaking of bugs, One that I know for certain occurred was I actually was able to slot multiple different kinds of factory resources in one city at one point. Which just confused the crap out of me.
