This game is briliant!
Just finished my third game and I am having so much fun.

The battles, espescially after flight are just amazing
The AI is pretty descent and will only get better, a first for any civ at release. Did Civ 6 ever had an AI?
The graphics are beautiful with so many nice animated details that make everything come alive
I am starting to get a grasp on the ages and the stragies involved. And I love how they shoke up the formula a bit as civ 6 was a boring slouch of a game imho.
Just won my first game (in any civ) on Imortal and I have played alot since civ 3 (i know, I am not very good :) ). Gonna try my first diety game now.
The AI is fast. No more waiting for ages in the later game. Thats also a first
A few more patches and an expansion or to and this will easy be the best civ ever

On the negativ side I really miss a clickable unit list, a trade overview and whats with the music? It can best be descibed as alternative, at least with the civs I played.
And some UI improvement are of course welcome. But all in all, brilliant game although I guess changes will always scare some people.

Yeah the game is great... It needs improvements in a lot of areas however, but the foundation is solid i think. I do believe the AI is poorly implemented in this game tho.. specially regarding difficulty. It just doesnt do enough to try to win i think, even at diety, once you learn how to match the +8 combat strengh they get, it become kinda of a walk in the park. I also think this game is more fun than civ 6, at least BASE civ, which we are currently playing, BASE civ 7. Once they polish what needs to be polished it will be fantastic. But as it stands, fun game.

once you play a bit you start to realize that the AI isnt really improved over 6, they're just more aggressive. AI civs wont focus on a specific win condition, they go for all of them at the same time. AI doesnt have a strategy when at war, they just throw troops at a city until they run out and the AI still doesn't utilize navies at all for whatever reason

Kind of looks like it's incomplete to me OP.. unless a war that ended about 80 years ago is considered "modern"... Doesn't that bother you?

its not that its "modern", its the modern age which ran from 1500 to 1945
The next patch that is supposed to drop on the 25th and the april patch they haven't announced a date yet will be very telling to me. I can see myself saying either heck yes or off to the dusty shelves with you until the end of year holidays and another go. Yeah i'm in the it takes Civ 1-2 years to make a decent game camp.

Over 140 hours and I'm still enjoying it very much.
It's not perfect, still needs a bunch of polish, fixes and reworks, but that's what you get when you buy a new Civ game day 1.
In 1-2 years it will have reached its full potential.

Like most strategy games over the past decade it has it's "rough" edges on release but there is enough here to see that it has a lot of promise. Really enjoying my time despite some frustrating bugs and UI issues. The combat AI is much improved even if it still hasn't figured out how to win yet.

I think Fire Emblem Engage has been the only “strategy” game that I’ve seen over the past 5 years that was complete at release. Even then a lot of longtime fans were unhappy with the cartoonish direction it went in.

It ended with deploying of weapons technology that continues to determine international relations and balance of power to this day as well as having set the stage for the space race which we also haven't exceeded so far. Humanity has gone absolutely nowhere since world wars and the internet is proof enough of it.

I love it too, I'm taking a little bit of a break and playing something else while waiting for some more updates

I think this is a strong and very great shake up to the formula.
