After an initial merging action, all new threads on the subject will just be closed and pointed to this thread.

why so expensive in third world countries and some others?
c3.SWIFT 31 de jan. às 10:57
I bought the founder's edition without even thinking abo0t it.
There is no other game o0t there worth even half that. But this game is worth every cent. Besides, Firaxis deserves whatever scraps 2K leaves them, the effort and dedication is unmatched. Literally,

Ah yes of course, I'd love to give a quarter of my salary to play civ.

Doubling the price of the game for the joke that is the Founder's Edition?
Those civs and leaders are either essential and should be in the base game, or absolutely not worth the money. See you guys at the launch of the "Complete Edition" after the second expansion pack comes out.
Bye now.

R$ 649,50 for a game is OUTRAGEOUS, in Brazil minimum wage is R$1.518,00, 90% of brazillians earn less than R$3.500,00. My gf rent costs R$900, in my city the "cesta básica" (its like a food bundle or box that contains basic food and hygiene products for a brazillian family to get by for a month) costs R$709,09, so, with the price of this game i can almost buy food for a entire family for a month!!!.
And don't dare say "but the base game...", no the "base game" is basically a premium demo at this point, ♥♥♥♥ 2K! ♥♥♥♥ THESE PRICES!!! i'm a fan of the series, but i'm out of this one, i hope it flops hard at launch.

For some of us this could be our last civ because we might be dead or brain fudged in 8-10 years. We don't want to wait until it is $1.99
Heck yes i'm preordering the deluxe.

We are still waiting on your preorder 6 days before release, sir

I would say $80 for what should have been the base game to begin with, aka the Founder’s Pack would be reasonable. The DLC really depends on the size and quality, but if it's just a leader or two, I’d say $10-15. Oof, looking at the pricing model, it just gets worse and worse. Such a shame, I was really looking forward to this one. But I have patience and have no problem waiting until it's at a 50% sale. There is nothing in this world you can say to convince me the current pricing is justifiable. Something tells me you guys partied away 100 million BEFORE the game came out, and I'm not paying for that.

70 Euros for the base game and 130 for the Founders Edition, not that i'm going to pay them one euro before they remove Denuvo, but still, mighty expensive. And for some reason the founder's was 119,99 Eur some time ago, but now today it is 129,99 , some inflation lol

Well maybe by the time they remove Denuvo, they have all the DLC released and the game on sale...

Any info yet on release dates/times for founder owners?

February 6.
I don't know the hour.

I bought it in Wingamestore, an official store.
They said (and say) that us, the buyers, will obtain keys on february 6.

Because third world citizens are not the target for 2K/Firaxis.

I dug up my old Leisure Suit Larry 1 box and it contained a Tenth Anniversary catalog from Sierra where you could order their games, with up to four weeks delivery time, for around 50-70$ which is around 112-157$ today. Quite a lot more than I expected.

Did you only get a skeleton of a game back then, with all the real content hidden behind an endless series of paywalls, adding up to infinity? Or did you actually get the full game for your 112-157$?
Minimum wage is 23000 TRY and Founder Edition of this game is 4600 TRY in Turkey. They have not made any regional pricing. We are not in the same economic situation as someone living in Western Europe or North America.
GrundleGrump 2 de fev. às 10:40
This starting price, knowing you already have DLC plans, even ones that are almost ready to go, means you know you are overpricing the base game. You should be selling the base game well under what you are and supporting it with the DLC, or selling the game at full price and releasing budget cost DLC. But you won't. You'll overprice the game and overprice the DLC because that's the times we live in.

Doesn't mean anyone has to be happy about it.
Vulture 2 de fev. às 22:54
Nope, not buying it until there is a huge sale.

There is no excuse for this price with how DLC-heavy Civ is.
