Any improvement in late game?
Do you think they added new mechanics to improve boring mid-late game?

The mechanic is that everyone have a soft reset once in a while.

The AI is crap as always, and to avoid the AI steamrolling you with cheating, or the average player steamrolling the best AI by just playing; everyone is a winner after every era.

They are just trying to sell you this as an amazing feature.

Watch the latest videos.

They've clearly made the game much more dynamic.

Civ VI matches were stagnant from start to finish. Same boring path for every faction. Every game unfolded the same.

The last two Civ matches that I played were with Bà Triệu and Jayavarman VII. Nothing was different, aside from the few turns where you get to use a different type of elephant.

With three different Ages, and branching evolution choices, there's no way that Civ VII will be a snoozefest from start to finish.

It's certainly a challenge that plagues many 4x games. Is there a 4x game that you consider to have a fun late game?

The Crisis mechanic they added in this game was potential solution to this problem. However they decided let's just make it a "pick your own poison" debuff instead.

Problem in late game in grand strategy is players snowballing to unstoppable status. So external factors cannot stop the player and thus player quits and starts a new game for initial challenge. But no one seems to understand this.

Even city builders like surviving aftermath has same problem. Once you get over that early hurdle the game becomes easy mode. Even with all difficulty cranked up to max.

Maybe the first few play throughs. Once I figure out the mechanics and way through, late game is almost always a stomp that I bail on. This is true in pretty much every strategy game I've played. I kind of hope for an early game debacle to draw the game out recovering from it.
