Hotseat and PBEM

I've been a avid PBEM hotseat player since Civ 4. Over the last few years using GMR and then PYDT I've played huge numbers of PBEM games, playing turns daily, with some games taking years to complete. It's become part of my daily routine and something I look forward to every day.

That Civ 7 will not support this long established mode of play is absolutely devastating. It feels like a betrayal which I am genuinely upset by.

I've no idea why this decision was made but I would urge Firaxis to reconsider.

If there ist no hotseat-mode at release i´ll make a negative voting.
Since Civ III we play in hotseat-mode only.

They've shown that they really don't care about pleasing long-term fans with some of the changes in this release.

It sucks big time, but given the things we know about it, even this missing feature may not be the worse in the game.

We only play civ in hotseat so without hotseat the game will sadly be a pass for me, we have over 5000 hours in civ 5+6 and all in hotseat.
To all who are curious, official FAQ states that hotseat will not be available.

Ok, I wasn't going to buy this Civilization anyway (even though it's my second favorite game franchise)... Now, without Hotseat, it was just the last nail in the coffin for me.

I played over 1200h Civ6 in hotseat with my friends, it was always a blast.

Same for Civ 5 and 4.

Simultaneous turns. Maybe hotseat will come in a dlc, but I doubt it lol

I also only play hot-seat using PYDT.
Civ 7 could have had hot-seat even if the battles' results are calculated at the end of the round (after everyone has played their damn turn).

Yes, that really sucks. I will not preorder as well. But do we know if Civ 7 is going to have an asynchronous mode? I know Civ 6 has it, even though it is not good. Of course that would not help playing at home with your family members.

I don't play hotseat or play by email but this would be very bad if they didn't incorporate it. I know a lot of people who love the pace of play by email. Also if this is going to be console game, I can't imagine not having a hotseat option. Imagine sitting on your couch playing hours of civ and not being able to play with friends. Isn't that what the console is for?

Likely would have been a pre-order if Civ 7 had hotseat. But now I won't be buying it until there's a significant sale (if the reviews are good), my partner and I only play in hotseat. A real shame, it's the first video game she's properly enjoyed.

Just kidding, but seriously, I don´t think a significant number of players playing hotseat in this day and age. It´s a thing of the past and just a gimmick, no wonder they don´t waste ressources on hotseat mode.
