Astra Militarum Highest rank
Ok I see the battle line tool tips say for well ordered only the highest ranking officers bonus applies to the battle line.

What is the order of rank here? Is it the point value? Which would be Tank commander, Castellan, Commissar then Sergeant?

This is what the lore says:

More practically each of these units can serve as HQ in battle.

Interesting link, but yeah it doesn't include commissar at all and doesn't answer anything.
Well commissars are their own unique breed in the officers rank, lorewise they are the political motivators for officers and troops and although they do not overank high commanders in certain situations they do have the authority to overule decisions that might result questionable or even heretics in their eyes.

In the tabletop for this edition which is the 10th I feel they are meh, they can also use the command fix the bayonets but that’s pretty much besides killing a squad member which I don’t find it really useful.

Battlesector as it is based on such edition (10th) it’s interpreting the commissars correctly, they also can be used as Warlords and their model besides all is pretty cool.

Again this is interesting, but I meant in the rules of battlesector. A commissar being a separate thing is fairly self explanatory, pretty sure they are based off the Soviet commissars.

It seems from a guide video it actually goes, Castellan, Tank Commander, Commissar, Sergeant.

If anyone can confirm that would be nice otherwise i'll play-test i guess.
The order is correct.

It's the same order they appear in the army builder screen, left to right. That's also the rule for every faction for who is assigned as your commander by default (you can change this during deployment) and who automatically inherits that status if you have other HQ units when they die.
