The 4 tiles with a kind of pyramid on it grant a bonus, which can be lost to the enemy if they take the tile. Those bonuses are + 300 pts (2 tiles), a + 1 action gauge, and a 50 % reduction on the reloading time for your units to recruit.
If you took a 300 pts tile, you should have gained those points, and the oponent should have lost them. Are you sure it wasn't a simple 200 pts?
Btw, I tend to reroll the game if I don't get a few 100 pts tiles right nearby my base, at least.
You can also tweak the settings in order to have the tiles more or less filled with those towers (can't remember the name of the setting). On max, I think every tile should grant somerthing. It's also the only way to compose an army worth more than 3,000 points, I think.
Thanks for explaining how the tiles work.
