Help with Landing Pad needed
I've given it at least five different runs, each with their own set of save scumming [haven't had to do that until this mission], and they were all failures. It's a fun-stealer to have the Battle Sisters rigged to be wiped out in two to three turns no matter what I do. Keep them where they're at. Move left. Move right. Split them up. Try to hide one unit--no they're surrounded and swarmed. Using their attacks to help them survive is pointlessly weak. Always dead in two turns.

Three turns--when I jump packed Carleon and a couple other units towards the Battle Sisters ASAP on one attempt. That left my army vulnerable and wasn't a good play.

What's an army composition for this? Strategy? Some BS I'm missing about the Battle Sisters? I'm seeing other people here apparently made it past just fine but the posts I found about this were not helpful for me. I was having fun with my second week of embracing Warhammer [Hi, I'm new] and now I need help to get back to that.

Update: Six hours since I started, I got it done. Can't say it felt rewarding at all. Watched a video walkthrough and saw the frag grenade unlock applies to Battle Sisters. That was a tiny piece of the bonus objective becoming possible, but it stayed impossible until RNG luck came through after dozens of attempts. The luck being whether or not gargoyles and venomthropes diverted their attention to my main army, which there didn't seem to be any way to force. I tried all kinds of different push tactics to make that happen. The video I watched had both the gargoyles and venomthropes leaving the Battle Sisters alone. For me, it was starting the mission over and save scumming a ton before luck ultimately had some of the gargoyles leave the Battle Sisters alone, more luck had venomthropes not pursuing the Battle Sisters as fast as usual, and then when the fight with RNG stopped, I had to kite the venomthropes with the Battle Sisters for a few turns. I hope that's not working as intended.

I'd say there's no need for me to keep this post here except I do want to say the bonus objective is poorly designed. I could have let them die, but obviously I'm at a skill level that needs the upgrade points.

Do feel free to warn me about future missions that are similar, so I'm not shocked by stupid RNG dependent objectives.

I think that one is the most 'special' mission, but I may be wrong.

Yes, it's one of the more challenging missions. If I remember correctly,
I just grouped up and pushed hard down the left side ramp.

You might be able to get jump troops and land speeders up north
quickly to help divert the enemy forces that are guarding that area.

Just keep blasting your way through and keep moving south until
you link up with the BA main force.

It feels like that mission was designed for terminators, which is both bad and odd since they're DLC that to my knowledge came out after release.

Even if you're wrong it still feels good to read, ha!

Again, good to read. Thanks!

That's interesting. I did buy that DLC because I figured being new I could use the advantage of elite units. I only had one unit of terminators with the weapon upgrade and I did teleport them over to the Battle Sisters along with some jump pack units, but that still failed, ha!
If I hadn't lost a terminator unit earlier in the campaign and requisitioned more, that could have been a good push to the Battle Sisters via the left ramp.

Honestly, i just let the sisters die heroically for the emperor facing his enemies.

LT jumped up to meet them whilst they were alive, then i ignored.... sorry, watched in awe as they showed their devotion to him whilst i cleaned the rest of the map up.

My army was 3 hellblasters, 3 of the plasma jumpy boys, baal pred, dreadnought and a few primarus to thin the chaff. Jump plasma are great for leaping up to something tough then just blowing them away.

Having just finished the campaign, I think that's the best approach. On normal difficulty at least, I did not need all of the upgrade points from completing bonus objectives. It really wasn't worth the time I was stuck there for any reason.

meh, i let them die.

Its what the emperor would want after all :)

In normal dificulty it's doable. In company captain it's obvious that it's pure RNG.

On lieutenant difficult, apart from the hero units, I went with fast or flying units: 4 landspeeders, two inceptors (with plasma exterminators), 4 assaults and an Invictor warsuit. Managed to save two of the three squads at full strength. Move fast and shield the sisters with your bodies brothers!

I don't know when you did this but the mission was adjusted in the last update specifically to make saving the sisters easier (and this post is 7 months old). I haven't played through the campaign again, so I can't say how much, but it used to be near impossible without terminators.

That explains it. I played this a couple of day ago, so the update does make it possible now.
