Anyway, it has some better mechanics than Battlesector, Height (hills) give more range, Cover (trash piles, concrete covers etch) gave +15%/+30%/+50% evasion bonus against projectiles. Larger maps, AI enemy could get reinforcements in X direction.
Covers, trees etch were destroyable, often destroyed walls to go through faster.
It had more fliers and vehicles up to Imperial Knights + Orks, Daemons, Space marines with same level vehicles.
All missions and skirmish had deadline like Max 12-25 turns and match ends or Mission fails
Lots of lots Campaings. My facourite was Imperial Guard campaing. Campaing units had progression system, 3 skills which were random, made units have more re-playability, Campaing didnt feel same second time as units got different skills ie. grenades, special ammo, run faster etch.
Sanctus Reach has more game mechanics and a lot more content. Graphics are decent.
I don't know if it's the slow pace of the animations or the GUI or whatever but it just doesn't click. Love the factions, love the graphics (although I like the clean plastic look of SR more) but can't play it and have fun.
So weird. Never happened to me that on paper it ticks all my wishes and yet when I play it I'm like "meh" and quit after a few minutes :/
Going to skip it and reinstall Sanctus and maybe pickup some dlc.
Original campaign was really good. Graphics and gameplay are top notch. If you like MP, it’s really fun. Limitations are obviously a limited number of factions and a very early build of the new SP campaign. But the Devs are very involved and everything points to more factions coming our way, and the new SP campaign evolving significantly over the coming months.
If you love TBS or WH40K, it’s a no brainer for me. Alternatively, you can wait a couple months to see what’s coming down the pike.
However we have just had the Necrons dlc (and the Necrons look great), and a new planetary supremacy campaign system that is still in early days. Devs have admitted to release it early and get user feedback to improve further. They have also said that there will be future faction releases to increase variety.
Battlesector is an excellent WH40k game for the content it has, and hopefully will become even better in the future as new developments and factions are released. Enjoy it.
I played and also created an Ultra Marines mod for Sanctus Reach.
The structure is similar though of course Sanctus has one more faction, but this was due to their DLC.
What Battlesector does better than Sanctus Reach:
Way better models and a greater graphic.
What Sanctus Reach does better than Battlesector:
Mod friendly
The option to create your own map
More detailed infos in the progression of units.
You really should give SR a try.
