competition as esport

Devs please consider competitive modes as seriously as possible, including esport if possible, for the lack of good ones, as events and tournaments are certainly the main reason why several good original 40k games (space hulk, DOW2, Regicide) dropped from players interest pretty fast in the past, once they fulfilled all the missions and achievements.

Never forget the 40k universe has firstly been created to make competitive games, so as good as your campaign and especially your ai may be, it will never be a better selling feature to keep players on the long run than some good competitive game mode(s) with some unlocks like in DoW2 multiplayer for example, supported with some events and as new content as possible of course.

A 2v2 mode would be great 1v1 is good but I would love to fight alongside another player whether against AI or players and would help Thame the sting out of not having co-op

Exactly, make it for what it is, a great SP game, awesome skirmish mode and the ability to play online.

When there is enough interest, the esport will come from th enjoyment of the players which start to make own tournaments. But i odont think thast they will try to force it. That Altitude has killed Daw3, i hope the devs dont make the same mistake.

DoW3 was nowhere near ready for esport nor for mere pvp actually : basic gameplay was terrible, in contrary to DoW2 which had quite an active pvp fanbase for having a good multiplayer. Bytheway good pvp games allowing esport don't succeed by mere players enjoyment : they have to be made to be good pvp games conceptually before anything.

I don't agree, care to give some examples for imo it works pretty fine for many games : SC2, Dota 2, CS and so many others.

Even DoW2 eventually failed to keep players on the long run for having missed the esport window they tried so hard to reach way too late after release, once Relic finally understood it was actually what their core pvp fanbase was awaiting for since day 1 with such a game.

Anyway I mostly wish for some serious dedication toward pvp, I'm not personally interested with esport but I think it would certainly push the game ahead and certainly help shaping new content as balancing factions.

Rofl, what could you possibly know about pvp anyway, with such an eloquent list of games ..?

That's obvious you're interested with this game for the campaign only (like your limited lolipop friend) and you will then jump on your next solo rpg/wargame (for the campaign only) once you're finished. No need to be so freely despising bytheway just to show how wide is your lack of understanding of competitive games.

FYI the oldest and most popular competitive game ever made is a turn by turn one...
