Now I like the idea of Darktide and Emperor knows IG needs love but just go over too the Darktide forum and you'll see the posted about "Why are their no Space Marines".
I started playing 2nd ed. and the 'wombles' were always the centrepiece of 40k. Nothing much has changed, either on TT popularity or in being one of the initial factions in most games, in the years since. Doesn't matter so much to me, especially if there's a half-decent narrative and it's not always the same chapter. I liked how DoW's magpies were developed, quite like how Space Marine showed the Ultramarines, and having Blood Angels for a change will be cool. Now give me an army I play too...
imo there a Space Marine should have been in place of the Ogryn. Either that or a suped up Inquisitor.
What is funny about that to me is that I never go to the Darktide page because I have no interest in a mostly female IG unit. So it seems that people interested in Space Marines are less trollish then their detractors.
SPEEEHS MEHREENS TODAY WE FIGHT TO KEEP THIS THREAD OPEN!
we shall not let it die.
No, We fight for our honor, as SPEEHS MEHREENS, and we fight for our battle brothers who are stationed in the name of the emperor to keep this thread open!
We fight for our honor as Blod Rehvens,
as SPESS MAHRENS, and we fight in the nehme of the Empra!
I CAEL ZIS MANOVER STEEL REIN!
Darktide wont change the fact that most people enjoy the SMs.
If we are gonna be honest, besides Warhammer 40k FireWarrior, Total Warhammer 2 is probably the second most "risky" high budget video game product from GW to date.
A game with the Lizardmen, both Elves and Skaven? no human nor any of the top played or liked factions were in it.
Game 1 had the Empire and Dwarves, Game 3 will have Chaos, both extremely popular.
High Elves were what? 7th place as the most popular faction? i forgot now, but they were after the Empire, all chaos factions and the Dwarfs i think (possibly after the Orks too)
Not saying there were never non-SM focused games (that theres plenty), i am just talking about high budget releases.
