Get in close and punish them. Their accuracy falls off horribly at close range, and heavy hitters like Dreads, Hellblasters, and Assault Marines chew their HP super fast.

If you're talking Multiplayer then the Exo probably costs more than the 2 squads it might kill, just don't bring Heavy Plasma into Nids because then they can really get value on you.

The other thing you can do is take a more armour-heavy force--lots of Landspeeders, Dreadnoughts, etc. Exocrines tend to target the units closest to them. On that mission "Place of Challenge" in which the Tyranids get the first turn, position your forces so that your infantry is in the middle and your Dreads, Landspeeders, etc. are on the outside.

That, and rush the Exocrines as soon as possible. Finally, note that Exocrines only have two uses of that squad-deleting AoE blast, and it has a three-turn cooldown between each use. They also have an optimal range of 7, and given how optimal range works in this game, there is accuracy falloff for targets both closer and farther than optimal range. So an Exo will have trouble shooting something that is just three tiles away, or that's right in its face.

but if i went with an armour heavy army wouldn't that take up to many points so their wouldnt be enough of an army to kill everything?
