The way Fuse's Scenario actually works
Greetings, Board!

So, I know I wasn't alone in my confusion on how this works.

And I've seen some threads here and there, but no conclusive explanation. So, here goes:

The way Fuse's scenario works is that, after finishing one scenario for the original 7, you get 1 Case File pertaining to the character whose story you just cleared.

As far as I can tell, these case files are "Mini-Scenarios", very close to how Lute's own story works. You start with Fuse and can get to the final boss of the character pertaining to the case file very quickly, but are free to do other stuff across the world, like hunting for treasure or grind for Arts and Stats.

Each case file is standalone. That'a why I said it's like every case is a "Mini-Scenario". Meaning, if you wait until you finish with all 7 originals, you will have to play their 7 case files back to back, each time starting with Fuse alone and having to work your way back up again.

Now, of course, there's NG+,but since each case file is a "new game" for Fuse, unless you continue to NG+ all the way, you won't carry over your data.

Let's talk some examples so I can make it clearer:

Example A: I finished Lute's scenario yesterday. I can carry over Lute's data into Fuse's Case File for Lute and play that, ending up fighting the same Final Boss for Lute's original scenario with some added scenes exclusive to Fuse's Case File for Lute. After that, I can carry over Fuse's data into a scenario for the remaining original 6, let us say Blue, and then Blue will have the carry over bonuses for both my original Lute run and Fuse's Case File for Lute. After I finish with Blue, I can then carry over that data into Fuse's Case File for Blue, and fight Blue's Final Boss, again, with some content exclusive to Fuse's Case File for Blue. After that, I can carry over the clear data from Fuse's Case File for Blue into a new game with a scenario from one character for the remaining original 7. So on and so forth.

Example B: I finished Lute's scenario yesterday, but instead of playing Fuse's Case File for Lute, I go straight for Blue's scenario, carrying over the data from my Lute's playthrough into Blue's. I finish Blue's scenario and then carry over my data into Fuse. I will be able to play Fuse's Case File for Blue without a choice. After I finish Fuse's Case File for Blue, I can start a new game choosing Fuse again, carrying over my data, and this time it will ask me to choose between Lute's and Blue's Case Files.

Example C: I finished Lute's scenario yesterday, but I wanna save Fuse for last, so I carry over my data and play each of the scenarios from the original 7, one by one. Let us say, Lute, Blue, T260G, Emelia, Riki, Asellus and Red. After I finish Red's scenario. I finally decide to carry over my data from all my 7 playthroughts into a new game and I choose Fuse. It will default to Red's Case File, since his is the last scenario cleared on my carry over data, and I will start with Fuse alone but will be able to roam and recruit some characters. The characters I recruit will have carry over data from my previous 7 playthroughs, so they will be as I left them. I finally decide I am done and fight the Final Boss, which following this example would be Red's Final Boss, again with some added content exclusive to Fuse's Case File for Red. After this, if I want to play other Case Files I would have to carry over my cleared data from Fuse's Case File for Red and choose Fuse again. This time, it will ask me to choose between all 7 case files.

To clarify, you can replay any Case File when you get the option to choose which Case File to play or you can select a Case File you haven't played yet.

So, contrary to some comments I read, and please keep in mind that your mileage may vary, but it seems to me that the best way to enjoy all the content is to follow Example A, that is, Original Scenario > Fuse's Case File for that character > Next Original Scenario from the reamining 7 > Fuse's Case File for that character, so on and so forth.

If you wait until the end, as in Example C, you will have to play each Case File back to back, meaning starting with Fuse again and having to recruit whomever you'll choose and everything. I think that will make it feel stale midway through, so I think it's best to sprinkle the Case Files in between original scenarios and I also believe this is the way its meant to be played.

If anyone has information that debunks my claims, please go ahead and share your information as I may be missing something here. Additionally, this is your game and you can have your own fun in whatever way you want.

But, for those of us who were wondering exactly how this works, I hope this post was helpful in providing the information you needed to take the best path to experience the new content for you.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and please don't let this detract from your own fun going through the game.

Thanks! But there's one thing missing: Losing to the final boss in a Fuse mini-scenario seems to count as a clear (however, you won't get the gold star)

Huh, I thought it would be game over so didn't even thought that was possible. Thanks so much for sharing!

Oh, and I should clarify: I mean a clear for the mini-scenario, not a clear for the boss rush.

Thanks for this, other posts were stupidly vague. So I started my first scenario and I like how this plays out. I hate how I didn't use Fuse so I had to step aside and grind, but it's great as he can recruit all the Protag so you can prepare your next story character to have an easier time at the start. In my case it was Red.. and he needed it. Building him and Cotton was great.

@Nicholai: Hey, I know it was a wall of text but as you said, I've only seen very vaguely worded posts about this so I wanted to be as clear as possible because I know a lot of folks were confused about it and I recall some thinking like me and being on the fence about how to go about experiencing the new content so my intention was to provide as much info on the matter and let everyone decide for themselves.

I hope this helped you plan ahead and to ensure you have the most fun with the new content without the frustration of finding out it worked differently than you expected.

Thanks, I was wondering how that worked.
