Did they put in a real ending for Blue's quest?
Not just making the screen dark.

That's the real ending. It's meant to imply the fight goes on eternally.

Until Rouge (who canonically won the duel) remembers his friends, meaning the rest of the characters he joined in his travels and breaks free.

You actually have a good ending for his story, when you play Blue's case file with Fuse.

But several interviews highlighted that this was not cut content, but what the devs had in mind (It's hard to tell with this game :D)

For me, Rouge had the same ending as classic. Haven't tried Blue yet, but I assume the same for him. Haven't done Fuse's case files yet.

Huh? Where are you getting that from? The original idea is that Blue/Rouge weakens the boss down to the point where the seal can be reapplied, trapping Blue/Rouge inside because they have no faith in his ability to win.
Maybe you're talking about the Fuse scenario, in which case, I've seen people saying that Blue won the duel in his scenario. (In mine, it was Rouge, and I beat the original scenario as Rouge.)

Edit: Blue wins the duel if you start with light in Fuse's scenario.

This is from the JP-only guide book they released. Essence of SaGa Frontier.

The devs confirmed what everyone is already stating. Rouge won the duel and then went down to hold Hell's Lord back. While he was in the middle of the fight, the people of Magic Kingdom resealed Hell. Trapping him down there forever. He was just a tool.

However, Essence also includes an additional line "however, Rouge was eventually able to escape after remembering his friends above." or similar.

The GameFaqs board for SaGa Frontier has an entire 7-part thread dedicated to translating the Essence guide. I think they even have a website for it now, you could probably just Google it.

this is like yugioh-effect when you have declared an attack and the boss activates mirror force....(the end = game over)
