(Junk Shop is the same, though)
The thing is, once you complete one campaign it's like cheating anyway, since you can carry over skills, items, etc. to make the game easy. At least you can select which ones, and also make the battle rank carry too.
I like that they left it in because the game now appeals to more people. Totally recommend it if you're tired of grinding or have been-there-done-that.
For people who are new to the game and don't want to use the glitch: Sei's Tomb has three items that are really useful early on. Just don't place them on the pedestals. The Rune quest is also a good starting point.
Obviously Junk Shop and Takonomics are cheating. Selling Duel Rifle and the armor from Shingrow Ruins for 6k and using it to get some cheap gear for strong Mecs seems pretty cheat-y too.
I feel like the best way to not cheat is to play characters maining the worst martial/sword talent trees they have, not using mystics/monsters/mecs, no learning spells outside of what you can buy (and buying Time is FORBIDDEN). And with all that maybe the game will have a challenge.
Oh, and if you grind until you have Durahan Shields and overcome characters having talents and everyone learns LifeSprinkler, that's not a challenge either.
There's still ways to overcome trash skills: Kisunagi -or- Magatama / Asura / SandVessel. Combo with HideBehind. CometBlade would be illegal because Gen is too good by default. It'd force you to plan harder with your fights.
Annie - Sword
Lute - Fighting
Mei-Ling - Fighting
Fei-On - Sword
Rouge - Fighting
Plenty of bad fighting talents out there.
Wanna ramp up the difficulty even more? Sacrifice slots.
Hell no, as it's the best way to play lol. Especially for that b.s. combo challenge or Red's endurance run of Bosses.
Plus as someone already said, the gold trick isn't a cheat. You but somewhere at a low price, you sell it elsewhere at a higher price. Gold is in the game literally for this reason.
As for the scrap shop, it's like a quick way to start the gold trade, buying Osc-swords, but by no mean gamebreaking because the items are not awesome stuff (except the lethal gun). It's actually faster to go through the shingrow ruins to get the money and items to sell.
... By the way, aren't you guys EXTATIC to speak about Saga frontier in 2021 ? :D
Yeah I've never used them but I've never considered them legit cheating. You just have the ability to buy equipment earlier to speed things up a bit, but a well planned and played group with the right skills isn't exactly that far behind on clearing speed. In the end it's all achievable whether you use the exploit or not, so I've never bothered with it.
