Blue/Rouge New Game Plus
I played this game way back in the day; the only scenario that I beat was Blue’s.

I’ve just picked it up again and want to give it another shot, but I have a few questions about learning as much magic as possible - and new game plus.

So - if you master a school, you can gain a special skill? Can you acquire the others from new game plus - so you could get all the master spells if you do all the other options on new game plus?
I’ve seen stuff about buying spells, then dropping them to master a school? Is that needed for new game plus?

I know that Blue is available in Fuse’s scenario, and so is Rouge. If you beat the game as Blue with all the magic you can get, then new game plus, then do the same with Rouge - are both the Blue and Rouge available in Fuse’s scenario awesome? Or does one revert to a weaker version? (I know you can’t get both at once)

I’ve seen something about other characters being able to learn magic from the mastery stuff. Does that also persist in new game plus for them?

Any learned magic, whether bought or learned through battle with a gift (mastery) transfers over but gifts themselves do not, you'll have to re-do the gift quests in every new cycle if you want the gift again. Note this is only necessary if you haven't already learned everything as the only thing a gift does is let you learn magic through battle (including the magic that you can't buy), and as stated earlier that learned magic does transfer. For normal characters this means you can't master every magic since you can't get a gift if you have the gift or a spell from the opposing magic school.

For Blue & Rouge, any magic they learn when they have all the gifts will transfer to further NG+ cycles, but since the gifts doesn't transfer but the spells do, this bars you from getting the gift again. Thus, they will have to learn the magic on their own scenario or Fuse's case file for Blue (unless you drop magic from opposing schools to relearn a gift I guess, but then you will no longer have access to that school's magic). As an aside, there are some story triggers that can override this, in Fuse's case file for Blue he'll rejoin with most of the gifts already. I imagine if you NG+ back into Blue's scenario there's similar triggers to let him regain the gifts but don't know for sure.

There are a few exceptions to the spell carry over, the higher level Time and Space magic, and the entirety of Life magic. Time and space are only available in Blue's scenario, while Life magic is also available in Fuse's case file for Blue's scenario. This still makes them really strong recruits for future scenarios. Also note that in Fuse's scenario you can only get one of them at a time. If you recruit Blue or Rouge, the other despawns, though you can go to the magic kingdom where they will leave allowing you to switch between them if you want.

Get the Rune Sword and Purple Eye to learn opposites. Anyone who gains the Rune Gift can give up the Rune Spells and learn Arcane spells, then use the sword to relearn all the Rune Spells. The mystics can learn Realm Magic and then use Purple Eye to relearn Mystic Spells.

Some characters start with spells they relearn on new game plus.

Mesarthim is locked with the Rune gift, she's the obvious choice for doing Rune + Arcane trick on, and using the same trick to get realm spells on her too is a good idea. She'll have shield and psycho armor for buffs, along with her party heal. Mystics are super easy to max out too, absorb x3 suzakus, and stack some glirandys (use the living sword possession trick).

However, you give up tower if you get the rune gift, because you cannot spark arcane spells with this trick. Tower is very strong, 100k+ damage 5 hit combos utilizing towers.

Spells learned will carry over to the next NG+ cycle (with some exceptions). For example, in one game, I got light/arcane/space/realm/mind on Gen, and sparked all the light, mind, arcane spells with him, and they carried over, which means that Gen does not require any of those gifts in any future scenario. Even purchased spells, such as realm and space magic carried over.

Blue/Rogue do not keep the higher time/space magics in future NG+ cycles (they'll keep the ones you can purchase), and they don't carry over life magic.
