Which character-specific gimmicks carry over with NG+?
Title says most of it.

I'm wondering if I should get into this re-master for old times sake, and what I liked the most about this game in the end were various unique character features and gimmicks.

I know items carry over, if they aren't quest-related items. But which exact ones count as quest related? For example would I get to keep Blue's teleport?

What happens with unique characters like Aselus, Blue/Rogue etc.

For that matter, what happens with non-protagonist characters?

The game dumps all of your equipped items back into your inventory, including Glirandly swords.

All of your characters keep their magic, but gifts have to be gotten again. Techs are kept.

Things like the Sand Vessel don't carry over exactly -- the Sand Vessel stays as an accessory, but you have to go back to Facinaturu and purchase another Sand Vessel to access Time Lord. Your LP returns to normal every playthrough.

If your Time Lord has 870 HP and Suzaku absorbs, for example, he'll keep them.

But the game resets Asellus' absorbs, and it also removes her Gloves/Boots, at least when she joins another character's party.

My Rouge, after completing Blue's scenario and winning as Blue, came equipped with all of the spells he had during the duel -- and he had both Space and Time magic, but no Overdrive, and no gift in either one. He may have come with my Blue's spells too, but I don't know, because I actually put DSC on Blue and just rushed to the end.

You can carry over everything minus key items and gifts. You get to choose what gets carried over.

I can confirm that starting a NG+ with Blue does in fact carry over every spell except for the advanced time/space magics (overdrive, etc), and Life, etc. My Blue has all of the Light/Dark, and Arcane/Rune spells that he had after his duel with Rouge.

Blue's teleport is actually tied to the item "Region Map" and not actually tied to Blue or the silly "Gate" spell. Any character can teleport if you have a Region Map in the inventory, but I don't think it carries over in NG+

Yeah, I really love the Region Map. That's the one thing I wished it got carryied over via NG+ but didn't...

I hope someone will make a mod to modify item in this game. regionmap is really nice! based on essence translation, it seems RegionMap is tied with Cube technology, and there supposed to be a quest where every character could get RegionMap, but they scrapped it.

Yeah I've been wondering a little if this game would be easier to mod now that it's on PC. I am definitely interested in trying to mod this game.

t260 cannot carry over bodies
Red cannot become Alkaiser
Blue cannot use his teleport or high mastery spells in some schools
Riki while not unique can carry over his forms like all monsters
Emelia cannot use her outfits
Asellus can carry over her absorbed monsters like all mystics
Lute has nothing unique
Fuse has nothing unique

They do not. Riki's was the first quest I finished.

Have you confirmed this personally? My Asellus did not carry over her absorbed monsters when I did NG+ with Fuse. I haven't done Red or Emilia yet.

Actually I can confirm only her sword. It's the same for any mystic whose mystic equipment carries over. Mesarthim for me has her glove and sword with her Suzaku, however Asellus only has it on her sword while Nusakan has all three as he started with those pieces of gear.. I'll have to test this more. Asellus in the Fuse scenario has carried over all her mystic equipment from NG+. However starting her scenario again will remove everything but the sword as her mystic skills are plot relevant. Interesting. Same for White Rose as she regardless of stats and masteries has only her sword starting in a 2nd Asellus run despite her having had all 3 pieces in my last Fuse game.

I wouldn't personally consider a relevant plot item to be a "gimmick" as NG+ does state on it's options that plot relevant items will not carry over.

I can absolutely confirm that if you use the NG+ feature for your mystics that Asellus DOES carry them over as I have now done two Fuse scenarios where she has all Suzaku's from her main story.
Hmm. And I can 100% confirm that my mystics carried over their absorbs into Fuse's scenario but Asellus did not. Which ending did you do for Asellus?
