But to be honest: I'd prefer to see Arkane go down in flames with the memory of all the awesome games they made previously, rather than see the studio continue to churn out uninspired open world shooters. That's not what I loved Arkane for and we definitely don't need another studio selling us the exact same type of game everyone else already does.
So let's see what Arkane have in store for the future - but let's also be open to the idea that sometimes, its better for a studio to close down instead of tarnishing their own name for years to come.
This is called a job, if you don't make a product that sells and you lose money. A company does not guarantee your employment. Arkane is a name of a developer, and the people behind it know that they are supposed to make a game that sells. Mismanagement or not the truth is at this point an $80 dollar game didn't live up to the cost. They lost money for Microsoft and the investors who are NOT a charity. IF the studio is shuttered then so be it, the developers will be pushed into other studios.
It wasn't Arkane's idea to make an open-world Jiminy Cockthroat live service game instead of the immersive sims they were known for. Redfall could never have been a good game.
they did not get fired, they just left
So what are the executives going to do? Fire a team of rookies for not being able to perform after all the veterans left... and replace them with a team of rookies?
It's becoming a serious problem at many AAA companies, being unable to retain staff. Blizzard is probably the most egregious example, with them having to cut the promised PvE mode in Overwatch 2 because everyone they assigned to work on it kept quitting.
All the current employees are clueless, incompetent rookies with zero experience and almost no talent and creativity.
Bury the entire studio because its already dead.
We get stuck with the leftovers..
It only came to be to sell the idea of an open world coop shooter being developed by Arkane to MS.
