Overall Game Awesome however ....
the main thing that spoils it for me is when we get enemy AI that stands motionless and/or slides across the map. (thankfully it isnt that frequent)

The main town graphics exterior/interiors and the lore are great, and the overall gameplay IS good. The flavour of the deserted vampire infested town is dripping with atmosphere.
Great locations within town, well designed.

I needed to say this as there has been far too much totally ripping it apart.

This game could have done with much more work on it before it was sold for the big price it was released, thats the issue.

Yeah, from what I heard from a reasonable reviewer, the AI is really what holds it back and they should have learned this from Deathloop

He had some other complaints too, but that was the big one and I think they can fix it.

Ai is dumb at times but the hate is not warranted. So far im at 27 hours and the more i play and the deeper i dig the better it gets. The story threads are always so creepy and unsettling and there is alot to uncover.

The enemies scale up as well the more you level up. There are times when i feel over powered but there are times when i'm absolutely terrified of an encounter.

For me this game is not about the combat though. Its primarily about the world and unravelling this story with some cool weapons and fights throughout but i never bought this game as some immersive vampire survival sim.

Would love to see some more variety to some of the enemies patterns.
Would love to see some more threats in the vein of the Rook. He is intimidating but once you learn how he works and you get a legendary stake launcher be becomes pretty trivial.

There is alot of cool stuff they could add to this if they are given the time to do so by their publisher but what they have is great. My score keeps going up the more i play this but a week in i've sunk more time into this without getting distracted by other titles than i have any other game released this year so far.

All in all i'm really happy with the game and have loved my time with it and i can definitely see myself playing through it again when i finish my first run through and unlock eclipse. I'll be even happier if they do continue to support it and add some more content down the road.

Totally well written writeup there and spot on, summed up perfectly.

I agree. I'd argue further it has everything to become the open-world immersive sim nobody knew they wanted, just as soon as AI is working well. Right now the AI does some interesting stuff sometimes, but it can also act really really strangely and stupidly.

This game gives Alan Wake vibes. I like the Town a lot.
But yeah the Ai is kind of bad and the vampires ... well ... lol

The AI takes far too long to start scaling, but on Midnight and at about level 15 or so I noticed some changes in their behavior and in density of enemies.

If you're a decent fps player on PC, don't even bother with the normal difficulty setting either. Start out on Midnight.

I've only had the sliders a couple of times. The AI normally reacts fine and vampires always pose a challenge unless I get the drop on them.

I've seen way worse bugs in CoD DMZ. Enemies hovering in midair making them insane floating turrets, being unable to hit them because they are underground making them invincible kill machines. Bugs that actually cause you to lose gear permenantly.

But a couple of slidey NPC's here and everyone loses their mind.

Why? My theory is this game is getting the rage build up from Jedi Survivor, and people already had their pitchforks and torches ready. The mob will have blood, whether justified or not.

I think they were actually crying already, this just gave them another reason.

That is great, however this should've all been taken care of before launch. The game is 70 bucks, and last I checked I am not a pre alpha/beta tester.
