Honestly, the game's surprisingly fun! My opinion, pros & cons.

[Redemption]

***SPOILERS AHEAD SO BEWARE!!!***



Now hear me out, I'm in a good solid 15 hours on the Gamepass version, I've been seriously enjoying it even playing solo.

So starting with the map, my first thoughts were wow, this is a pretty small map, but still excited to get in there and hunt some vamps! Turns out the map might look small but it took me quite a while to traverse it, even with using the fast travel given to you.

Finished all my side quests which actually wasn't too bad, took out the mini bosses which grant you their skull upon killing them (used for the vampire lord fight) and eventually fought the vampire god, which was actually a tough but fun fight.

Once done I was honestly ready to see the credits roll, BUT NO!
You get a call on the radio asking for you to come help another town called Burial Point, which is covered in this massive vampire tree thing (Haven't figured it out yet) But it uses humans for nutrients!!

This map is completely different from the first one, and even larger it looks visually.
I am excited to play though it and see where the rest of the story goes and what new vampire variants there are! There's new Human enemies which seem to be a little better equipped than the previous ones.

I only have 4 more days left on my Ultimate subscription so I'm planning on using all the time playing this game.

~PROS~
- Interesting variety of weapons, about 3-4 varients for each category not including the legendary version of it. UV Beam guns are amazing!!
- The map has many fast travel spots, so if you find yourself exploring for an hour or 2 then get a mission, chances are you would have a fast travel spot open so you wouldn't need to walk a large portion of the map again!
- It's easy to get caught up in exploring and hunting, from the vampire nests to the groups of vampire worshipers, it's all good fun.
- Game looks small but opens up big time!
- Very cool looking legendary weapons which have cool effects and nice bonuses!
- Many enemy variants. After opening the second map there's more human enemies and different looking "vampire" enemies added to the mix.
- The Boss fight (only first so far) Was actually pretty fun regardless how many times I tried it!
- You eventually unlock respeccing at level 10 so if you starting putting points in skills which don't help much at the time then you can respec and put them elsewhere.
- The game doesn't look all the bad, cool effects and I can for sure see the devs adding and updating this a lot!

~CONS~
- The AI can be very clunky at times, especially the vampires. They will sometimes just sit behind a wall and wait for you to come to them instead of phasing through and attacking.
- Stake launchers are a really cool concept but are easily replaced by 90% of the other weapons, taking on 5-6-7 vampires with only a few shots which you need to hit them first, is done so much better with a shotgun, assault rifle and even handguns!
- The crystallise missions? They're just an absolute pain. I will stand there and kill any of the blood sacks that come up to it but it still gets filled regardless.
- No matchmaking!!! Many people say this and it's true, a online co-op game absolutely should have matchmaking, either quick play or game list, hop in, hop out. Sadge.
- The collectible vials, there's 100 (Maybe more?) And honestly they're so very hard to find. There's no notifications and only a silent sound that points them out when you're super close to them along with a blue light. I've played all the crackdown games and found all hidden orbs but man this is torture! I finished the fist map with only 18 vials! Not
sure how many are there but that's all I got. Which brings me to my last con.
- No returning to redfall once you enter burial point! Which means, if you plan on a 1 time playthrough, you better get all collectibles and finish all side missions before advancing!

~FINAL VERDICT~
The game is fun, but with some small downsides which the devs can fix.
There's absolutely room for improvement but what they did so far is good.
Game is larger than it looks, keep on playing!

6/10 (Would be a very solid 7/10 for me if they included matchmaking or drop in, drop out) Can see a lot of potential and really looking forward to dlc and updates.

I dunno it's kinda out in the open on everyone's radar.
Your pros list is also very unconvincing and a LOT smaller than the cons list.

Sounds more like a 4 or 5 out of 10, especially with no match making, forced online connection, denuvo, ect

Glad you seem to like it somewhat tho.

A few things on my con list are my personal preference such as stake launcher, crystallise missions and collectibles. Looks larger since more describing the con was involved haha

The game itself is actually pretty fun, even solo playing.
If they add matchmaking then it'd be much more fun.
I see many people complaining about the game but most play for sub an hour and give up without giving it a real shot. That's my reasoning behind my hidden gem comment. It's hidden under the pile of crap people have been spewing on it. Haha

I've flip flopped between having fun and feeling a bit let down. I've just got to the new map though which was a surprise for sure and i wasn't expecting that. I thought i was near the end of the game as well.

Definitely feel like i got my moneys worth out of this in terms of time invested.

What character did you play?

I'm playing with the guy who has the UV lamp as his ultimate and starting to think its pretty OP in terms of how it can petrify whole groups of vampires pretty quickly.

I don't need new innovations in every game I play so I can enjoy it for what it is and I tend to find standard bugs funny rather than annoying. However, I'm glad I'm playing it cheaply on game pass and didn't buy it. The performance is the biggest issue for me and I won't be able to enjoy the game properly until they manage to fix it, if they can.

I'm playing with the guy who has the UV lamp as his ultimate and starting to think its pretty OP in terms of how it can petrify whole groups of vampires pretty quickly.

I chose Jacob mostly because I already felt like I would play solo a majority of the time and being able to send my crow out to scout and also cloak myself has been loads of fun. His ultimate once you get to the final skill point eventually is like a auto aim insta kill, even for vampires, Send out the crow, let it target enemies for you, cloak up for a nice headshot damage boost, then ult all while auto snapping to enemy heads haha.

Yes i've had a few stuttering issues but not many. I'm glad i'm playing on gamepass too, would've overlooked it for sure if I had to play $70 for it. But very glad I am getting to enjoy it. I plan on playing it on eclipse once I finish it just to see how much harder it is and what cosmetics I can snag!

I might have to try him next as it sounds like a totally different play style.

The second map was a big surprise. I thought i had finished the game and then you go to this whole new area!

a hidden gem is games like heart and slash and alot of indie games. not 70 dollar trash from a AAA company

At $70 AAA, nah. But. They're not blind and would have known ahead of time a number of the criticisms. If they follow through with what they've already said about additions, and have scope to do a bit more, then I can see this game being a decent sale purchase in a year or 18 months for $20 or whatever. There are some good things to it but some of what's wrong with it just isn't going to get patched out too.

Yup, this is the kind of "gAmEr" that would like a game like this. You absolute brainlet didnt even understand that you NEED to fill the bar by letting blood sacks go through. Literally standing around drooling over his feet so when he slips he gets at least somewhere is the kind of "gAmEr" you need to be to enjoy this.

Relax dude, you're the type of person who doesn't read or check before commenting.
The whole point of that mission is to kill the bloodbags BEFORE the fill up the bar.
There's even an achievement for this exact mission.
Starve The Beast: Complete Metamorphosis without the vampire being nourished.
The vampire will still spawn even if at 0% but it'll be a lot weaker.
Even the mission description tells you this.

Well to help everyone who is having an issue with the post title, I've changed it. Yes not a "hidden gem" but for me at least I saw only a handful of ads for it a while ago, completely forgot about it before it showed up on gamepass haha

Redfall is unimpressive, clunky, cringe and i could go on.
Its a game we have seen a hundred times by now.
