You need to start your Oculus app, then launch the game manually from Steam with Play button and select Oculus mode when it asks. No SteamVR needed.
We do not support Virtual Desktop streaming, but you can use this old fix to make it work with HB.
What type of connection do you use? If you are on Virtual Desktop you can try this FIX for beta, select SteamVR version on launch if it asks.
However, we recommend to use cable connection or AirLink if possible.
Not sure if this issue ever got fixed but I use a Vive with Index controllers on a machine with an i7, Windows 7, and a GTX 960 and I'm getting this same issue where the game won't load when it previously would work on older builds. It only displays the left eye with white and the right eye is off or black.
I know this hardware is old but it still runs most games without a problem. I would like to be able to play this game again or at least figure out why this happens. I think Thief Simulator had the same problem - not sure if it still does since I uninstalled after not being able to play.
Might be a Unity problem if that's the engine this game uses.
Your GPU is a bit old, but it does support Hard Bullet. You can try:
1 - Verifying your game, as some settings could've misaligned.
2 - Updating your NVidia Drivers.
3 - Trying OldHB version, as it uses older engine that can run on GTX 960. You can change to it via Beta options in Steam. But it's a measure just to check if the problem persists after previous fixes.
I had done a clean install of the game and it gave me that issue with vision/playing. I remember playing the demo of this game as well as early versions when it released without issues. I'm not sure what the problem is with the couple of Unity games that do this aside from just incompatibility via updates. I'll double check my drivers and I'll probably try an older build of the game so I can at least maybe still play the game like I used to. Too bad I won't have the latest content but oh well. Thanks for helping.
What is your CPU and GPU?
